Does anyone know how long you have from approval until time of landing? I haven't been able to find the time frame.

Did you mean the approval of the application? If so, you have up to a year from the date of your medical. If you had your medical today, December 11, 2016, you should be able to land until December 11, 2017.
Thank you!!!

Hi,

I've been in a relationship with my girlfriend/now wife for almost 3 years. She is from the US. We had a court marriage performed in May 2016. She had her health and background check done. Now it': just up to me to complete the remainder of the paperwork and send it off.

I started reading some forums about how a court marriage can seem fishy? At the time we couldn't afford the wedding we wanted until at least 3-5 years. We didn't announce our marriage publicly as we are a gay couple and I have not yet come out to my family on my mother's side. We told our close friends and family of the marriage and they know we plan to have a proper ceremony and celebration later.

We are a genuine couple. I have tons if proof that shows we are. Tickets from trips we've taken, pictures, text messages, letters, gifts, concert and play we attended etc. I'm really worried about being rejected, I love her so much and I can't imagine my life without her. I don't want to lose her because the government thinks a court marriage is fishy and not genuine.

Seems we just got AOR2

Date: December 12, 2016

UCI: 99999999

*9999999999*

Application: 00000000000

*0000000000*

Dear *NAME*:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada which was received at this office on December 5th, 2016.

We have created a file with the application number provided above. You must quote this application number in any future correspondence.

Processing time

Applications for permanent residence in Canada in the category that you have applied require on average 9 Months to process at this office. If you have not received any instructions from this office within 6 months from the date of this letter, you are requested to contact this office directly.

Interview

You will be notified of the appointment for your interview, if required, approximately 2 months prior to the date of the interview, and you will be provided with further instructions at that time.
Section 15 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act authorizes an officer to proceed with an examination where a person makes an application for permanent residence in Canada for the purpose of determining whether the person and all his or her accompanying family members, appear to be persons who may be granted entry into Canada. To proceed with an examination, a personal interview is frequently required. Section 16 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act states that a person who makes an application must answer truthfully all questions put to them for the purpose of the examination. If an applicant appears for the interview without all the family members as required by the officer, then the required examination cannot be completed. This means that the applicant would be found to be inadmissible to Canada as a foreign national by virtue of the fact that he or she is unable to comply with all the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Regulations, following sections 11 and 41 of the Act.

Interpreters

Interpreters must be arranged in advance for any family members who will be interviewed and who are unable to communicate well in either of Canada's official languages of English or French. Instructions for the provision of interpreters will be provided to you prior to your interview appointment.

Non-resident applications

If you or any of your accompanying family members are not normally resident in the area of responsibility of this office, then you should be aware that there may be additional delay in the processing of your application for permanent residence in Canada. This delay will result from the need to refer your case to the Canadian Immigration office which is responsible for the country in which you or your family members normally reside. This referral is necessary to verify any information that you have provided with your application, for advice concerning qualifications or other matters of a local concern that should be taken into account when assessing your application.

Let us know

If your circumstances change you have to let us know (see address, fax number and email address below).
More particularly, we want to know about a:
· Change in family composition including new born, divorce, marriage etc;

· Change of address, including change of e-mail address;

· Change of immigration representative;

· Request for withdrawal of your application;

Prepare yourself for immigration to Canada

Your application has just been received at visa office and some months will probably pass before you know the final decision on your application. We nonetheless encourage you to use these months to gather information on Canada.

One of your first steps should be to begin researching potential employment in Canada. Most occupations in Canada are not regulated. For those occupations, the employer is responsible for assessing and recognizing your qualifications.

However, some occupations are regulated and do not permit persons to practice without a license. To obtain a license to practice a regulated occupation, you must go through an assessment and an acceptance of your education and professional qualifications by a regulatory body. This assessment will compare your training, education and experience to Canadian requirements. This assessment will also help determine whether further training and evaluation may be needed before you acquire a license to practice your occupation in Canada.

In partnership with Service Canada, the Foreign Credentials Referral Office (FCRO) provides information and referrals. You can find more information on the FCRO Web site at: www.credentials.gc.ca. Clients in Canada can call 1-888-854-1805 or the Service Canada general enquiries number at 1-800-O-Canada (1-800-622-6232) for more information. Clients in Canada can also obtain in-person service at Service Canada Centers.

The Going to Canada Internet site (at www.directioncanada.gc.ca) has important information about living and working in Canada as well as the “Working in Canada Tool” which will tell you what the current prospects are for your occupation across Canada. It offers information on essential skills, job descriptions, work conditions and opportunities. It will also tell you whether your occupation is a regulated profession in Canada.

We trust that this information is helpful.

Sincerely,

I don't believe a courthouse marriage alone looks fishy, I think it also depends on the surrounding circumstances.
We included a written explanation of why we didn't have an engagement party, why there was no traditional wedding ceremony even though I'm religious, why most of my family wasn't at the courthouse ceremony or restaurant dinner after, why there was no honeymoon, no traditional proposal, etc. We also had a few other potential red flags to address in our application, but we feel confident about it.
I think as long as you provide all the possible proof of your relationship that you can and explain anything you think might look suspect to the officer, you should be fine!

Hey, please feel free to message me anytime - my wife and I went through a similar situation, and now are in the process of waiting for my PR. :) It took us a long while to gather all our docs, since things were a bit different - but we sent in lots of supporting info (letters from friends, wedding photos, etc) to explain our situation.

I'm more than happy to help you in any way I can in your personal process. Be excited! :)

I had a question about the spreadsheet. One of the columns say "Stage 2 AOR (if any) OR 3rd Line." Is the 3rd line referring to 3 lines on ECAS, on the PR side? That's the only thing I can think of, but if so, wouldn't that be the same thing as the previous column, "ECAS PR Application Status 'In Process'?" I'm just wondering because I'm told Ottawa office generally doesn't send out AOR2, but I've had 3 lines in my ECAS since the same date the status changed to 'In Process' (Nov. 30, 2016), so I want to know if I should just put that date in that column for the spreadsheet.

Here's what it says in ECAS:

Permanent Residence
1. We received *****'s application for permanent residence on November 21, 2016.
2. We started processing *****'s application on November 30, 2016.
3. Medical results have been received.

1.I received AOR2 email (my wife in India actually got it from DELHIIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca email address)

2.They asked to pay RPRF fees (if not paid already) and submit PCC (if not done already)
Now I have already submitted PCC upfront so I think I should ignore it.

3.As far as RPRF fees is considered I paid after submitting the entire application. I emailed to CPCM-EXTCOM@cic.gc.ca,
DELHIIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca.

Do I need to courier it to CPC-Mississauga office as well as NDVO office or emailing is sufficient ?

Hey I would email both the offices! I got the same email today (well my husband did in India). It says to send to cpc in Mississauga, but I would email both. Also, I have provided and paid everything upfront and handed it with my application, so I should ignore. Correct ?
