You need to show strong ties to the community. If you attend church, volunteer or work, etc you can ask people with whom you interact whether they would be willing to write letters of support.

Hello SenoritaBella, I have 14years of work experience and I want to apply under this stream but I dont have any relatives or friends living in the community or in Nova Scotia for that matter...what are my chances? Does this mean that I'm not qualified under this stream?

I am new on this forum and i intend applying under the CIS to Colchester. Can anyone please help me with answers to some or all the questions below.


1. Can i still apply to undertake an exploratory visit to Colchester for 2012 or it has reached its capacity?

2. Does a visit qualifies me for community identification ?

3. How long do i need to stay on such visit ( This question is to help in applying for a Visit Visa)

4. Does the Province have their requirement differently or i have to meet the recent changes in CIC Federal Skilled Worker requirement?

5. What is the English Language requirement for principal and does my spouse needs to proof language ability if she has evidence that she receive all her education and certificate in English.

6. I have not visited Canada before and neither do i have prior connection with Colchester until i read about this scheme, does this disqualify me?

7. I have no job offer, but i am a professional accountant, while my spouse is a sales and marketing professional. We believe we will contribute positively to the economy of Colchester and Nova Scotia. Do we need to start making contacts before our application or the Community RDA will assist to link us with potential employers.

8. Who needs to pay the exploratory visit, can the principal come alone for the visit or it is compulsory i come with my spouse..

9. During an exploratory visit to Colchester, will i have the opportunity of having an interview with a Province or Community Officer or how will i be assessed has qualified for the CIS scheme.

10. what document do i need to send to apply for a visit?

11. What is the success rate of applicants.

I will be glad if anyone can help.

Thanks SenoritaBella, i found those websites self-explanatory and useful. It is clear each County has its own requirement. I have settled for Colchester. I have sent a mail to Margot and i am hoping one visit of about 3 weeks stay will be sufficient if she finds my application for an exploratory visit successful. Thanks.

I don't know any consultant, just lawyers. Check out Cox and Palmer or Stewart McKelvey law firms. They have immigration lawyers. Be prepared to spend around $3000 - $5000 or even more if your case is complicated.

Senioritabella, its over a week now i wrote to Margot at Corda requesting for an exploratory visit and i got no reply. I phone her and she promised to check my application between wed and thurs last week but up till today, i got no reply. Should i call her again or resend my application?

A friend who is waiting for 2013 Strategic Initiative Program of Manitoba wants to know which process is easier - Manitoba Strategic Initiative exploratory visit or CIS under colchester county of Nova Scotia. Any help????????

Why did you choose Colchester? Do you have any friends or someone suggested you to the community?

Thanks Sapsins, Its a friend that needed the info and not me. I settled for Colchester cos it involves a visit just like the Manitoba SI and i got no friend there. My take on all these visitation stuff is that it will enable a serious immigrant to also try and make friends as much as possible prior to your chat with the Province or Community officer.

Search google for different resume formats and templates - when you find a job, try to transfer your skills into the language from the job ad and use some of the action words from the ad too.
