Nova Scotia nomination Program

Guys,

I would like to ask if we have to pay an application fee when applying for Nova Scotia Nomination Program as i am unable to find this information on their site ?

Also, i would like to ask that what should i write under the section "detailed residence plan in nova scotia upon arrival" in application form ?

There is no fee.

There is no provincial application fee under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). There may be fees associated with preparation of documents to the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream such as with credentials, language testing or translations. You must, however, pay all the required Government of Canada immigration fees when you submit your file to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

If you are talking of 'Section I' of that form, you need to provide an Expression of Interest therein to prove that you are keen on settling down in Nova Scotia. This could include a variety of personal and professional reasons and is a very individualized statement, recommend you research the province and find commonalities which you can highlight in this section. The worst thing you can write there is ' I'm applying to come to NS because that helps me get 600 points and PR'.

There is no set format for writing such a statement of interest, plus it will vary from person to person and from province to province. I don't know much about NS but I wrote a similar letter for Ontario...and the things I covered were:

- employment opportunities in Ontario for my NOC. Higher demand and opportunities for my NOC in Ontario. For NS I am assuming you are in luck since your NOC would already be listed as a high demand NOC for their demand stream.
- similarly if married you can state better employment opportunities for your spouse as compared to other provinces.
- if moving with family - you can talk about excellent education system, medical facilities and overall family friendly environment of the province
- and any other such aspects you can mention about the province and how that attracts you to stay/settle down and contribute there.

Of course you will need to do some reading up on the province for writing in detail

How do you go about finding if the NOC is in demand much for the province? I would like to go for NS but I am not sure how to even start on going through the PNP route. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Your first step should be to go through the application guides and official provincial websites (application guides are usually downloadable from these websites).

For Nova Scotia, they've mentioned the list of in-demand occupations in the Nova Scotia Demand - Express Entry application guide (page 19, Appendix 1): http://novascotiaimmigration.com/wp-content/uploads/AppGuide-NSNP-NSDEE-2June2015-English.pdf

I imagine that a job offer isn't required. Check the application guide (shared earlier in this thread) and confirm for yourself.
