Notifying CIC of a change in residence

My spouse and I have recently applied for PR outland from New Zealand. On our application I listed all our addresses as the New Zealand address. Now I have moved back to Canada. My spouse is in New Zealand still, but will be joining me in Canada to wait for the PR decision. I don't have any client numbers or case specific number yet, as we only just sent the application at the end of June and they received it in the first week of July. How do I go about doing this? Someone mentioned I could send an email and it would not delay my application. Do I need specific information in order to send our change of residence?

A file number would be great to have. At this stage it is best to wait until they open the package and advise you it is received and/or that you have been approved as a sponsor. For right now, there is nowhere to send that information because they may not have opened your package yet.

Since you are the Canadian and your spousal application is processed in Canada, you can use the address change tool at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp to advise CIC of your change in address.

Once your spouse moves, you will need to advise the Visa Office - the best way is with a case specific enquiry. Including your file number will be helpful.

It means if you haven't received sponsor approval yet (in other words, if your application is still at CPC-M).

So the these 2 consecutive Qs got confusing answer though We wrote the timeline that we stayed together after marraige in the box.

Those forms will be evaluated by the VO, not CPC-M (CPC-M will just make sure you included it).

So, I would wait to send updated signed forms to the VO once you have a file number to make sure they get it and update your record (CPC-M will only update personal information - not detailed applicant questions).

For when you update update forms, note that the questions are asking whether:
24. the sponsor ever visited the sponsor
25. the applicant ever visited the sponsor

So not since the application was made, but *ever* in your relationship whether you have visited each other and if so, who.

We were in a very similar situation. There is no way you can update your address until a client ID/App # has been issued to you. Wait until you are approved in Mississauga, then you can update your Canadian address online, and also send an email/case specific enquiry to the visa office processing your application with this information. You will need to include your client id #, DOB, full name, and the updated address(es).

I think Ohcanadiana's trying explain to you what CIC is asking in each question. "Period of relationship" refers to the entire time that you have known your spouse and vice versa...not just since the application date. The objective is to understand the genuineness of your relationship.

In layman's term, it's basically asking whether you (the sponsor) visited the applicant AT ALL during the relationship, and this also includes the period BEFORE you submitted the application to the CIC .
