Hi
I am a Canadian citizen applying to sponsor my common law partner. I know we need to attach our most recent notice of assessment for our sponsorship application, but currently my 2017 notice of assessment has a $5000 charge on it because I was being audited. I have since been reassessed and my balance is back to 0, but the CRA does not reissue notice of assessments. I can, however, show my account statement that shows my balance owed to the CRA is 0.

Should I be attaching with my application for sponsorship both my 2017 notice of assessment and my account statement? Or just the account statement? Should I provide a written explanation to be attached with it?

Any info on this is helpful. Thank you

You can register with the online services of the CRA
Go to : canada.ca/cra-login-services
Set up an account and they will send you security code in the mail ( takes a few weeks or longer....Maybe longer with Canada Post issues ? ) .
Then access your personal information and print out the CRA updated information you need.
Hope that helps.

Hi

It doesn't matter if it shows a balance owing. IRCC is just looking to see how much money you make.
