Notary refuses to certify photocopy

What do we do? He says he can't certify the same photocopy that the translator stamped.
Instead he made his own copy of the photocopy, and certified that is a true copy of the photocopy.
He also did not say the name of the document.

Is this going to be a problem?

Send both documents. Technically, if the translator has marked the document then it is no longer identical to the original.

I really hope this won't be an issue because I have the same problem. Notary certified a copy he made of the original and also did not put the name of the document. Let's hope for the best.

You can't double-certify an already certified document.

In theory, the translator gives a translatation already certified (which wouldn't require certification). If that's not the case of your legal system, then you either get the translation and certify it (which is done by making a copy of the given document, can't stamp the original, in your case the translation). Or you first certify the original untranslated document and after you translate the certified copy. Either case, send both documents.

thanks guys, next time I will get the notary part done first, saying its a true copy, THEN go to the translator for the stamp.
I just hope they accept how its been done......

We are sending the originals with- that way if they would have any doubts, they can see the originals themselves.
It means my husband will have to get another passport........but its not like he's going anywhere anyway..................
