Notarizing photo copies of documents by notary public officer

Hi,

The Immigration guide states that to notarize a photocopy document-
To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
->„„I certify that this is a true copy of the original document‟‟
->the name of the original document
->the date of the certification
->his or her name
->his or her official position or title
->his or her signature


But while notarizing most notary public officers do not have field for the name of the original document in their stamp, What should i do?

hello nitroxn,

I went to notary public and got docs notarised in a way that notary public used to do, i.e. their practice and rules are prescribed by local laws and regulations and they do not change their stamp for our specific cases. Get whatever you get from notary public and bring these docs to translator who should put stamp or add text 'duly sworn, translation complete and accurate.... and some other text'. Also, add note in your cover letter explaining this (if you feel you want to)

What I did is, I talked to notary public officer. I asked them if they have that format. They said no.

I told them that I need it to be exactly the same format as mentioned, and suggested that I am willing to pay extra, to have them create a stamp with the said format, which they gladly obliged.

;D nice! and flexible (notary, I mean), and you creative as well. notaries here are governed by laws and are monitored heavily.

I guess I could ask them to print the name of the document by hand. Is it not acceptable.

when i went to notary public, I asked for: stamp, telephone Number, the notary persons name be printed there and signed.
I also asked for a name card which I later submitted with documents ( of course, I told the person that I wold do so and got approval).
