Hi All,

Can anyone help explain how I go about arranging for a translation of a police certificate from Bulgarian into English? I have checked the various state translation directories and the languages isn't listed on any of them.

If i get it done somewhere else, i understand it has to be notarized. Does this mean the notary has to speak Bulgarian as well? Otherwise how are they going to know it is correct?

Thanks,

If you cannot find a certified translator, then in addition to the translation and the certified copy of the original document, you need a translator's affidavit. It is the affidavit which is "notarized" (signed in front of a notary public or commissioner of oaths).

See for example:

Ok, so i had a look and found crediteval.com this company seems to offer a certified and notarised service and they also do the right language.

would that suffice?

Probably, but they would need to provide the translator's affidavit, because they are not one of the designated certified translators.

i asked on live chat and they said that the certificate that comes with it is notarized and that is the affidavit.

What are the documents that need to be notarized?
