Hi! I will be applying Outland from US.

I could have swore I read on the guide that marriage certificate, birth certificates, etc need to have NOTARIZED copies, not just a regular photocopy. Is this the case or did I misinterpret the guide?

Also, I will be having some of my family, my husbands family maybe and the witness at the wedding write a letter. What exactly should they say. Only my brother has met my husband since my other family live farther away. So what can they say exactly in their letters?

Any other tips pertaining to outland/US would be helpful! :)

Also if any seniors can give general advice to my thread of people in the application process (before submitting) that'd be awesome!

Any docs already in english or french, can just be regular photocopies. No notarized/certified required.

Testimonial letters can say anything they want, such as how the person knows you and your spouse, for how long, what outings/activities you've done together etc etc. Basically enforcing the fact the you are a genuine couple. There is no right or wrong way, as long as it's original from the person who wrote it.

thanks for the answer. If that's the case that makes things a bit easier! I was not looking forward to going and getting all these things notarized/certified.

Also, maybe a stupid question but would the letters need to be hand written to be more genuine or can they type it and that's fine?

Either typed or hand written is fine. I'm sure it makes no difference to the VO. Just make sure hand writing is legible.

To me at least a typed letter with writers full name, address, work title (if applicable), phone number and signature, looks more "official" then a hand written one.
