I did my taxes since 2016 (filed every year 2016 to 2020, including both years) and now am applying for citizenship. In online application, there is a question "Tell us when you filed your income taxes in the last 5 years".

It asks for 2021, did you file (I said No) and required to file (I said Yes). Since the tax season starts end of February, there should be no problems but not sure if they'll do a desk rejection based on this answer.

I assume many people apply in Jan-Feb, what was your answer for this question? How should I proceed?

Hi

1. As you did, no requirement to file until april for 2021

So should I select No for both? Filed No, Required No?
Filed = No
Required = Yes

You have state the facts as of date signed. As you said, this kind of answer is not just for you. All whoever filing in the first 2 months do the same. Its known for cic officers hence nothing to worry. No one being questioned on why because they know that we cant file it.

I think so too, thank you for clarifying!
