We're moving from the UK to Canada next week. I'm canadian and my husband is British/Irish and so visa exempt. We have sponsorship approval so far. We have a return ticket for my husband in Sept though no intention of using it unless his PR gets refused which is unlikely. When we arrive in Toronto and go up to the border control desk, what do we say? If they ask how long we are staying for, do I tell them I am moving home (which I am, as we are bringing 3 dogs with us) and my husband is staying with me until sept? Do we volunteer that we have a PR application in process or wait until we're asked?

Also we applied for PR with my husband's irish passport as it had more years left on it, should he travel on his irish or british passport next week?

Thanks!

p.s I have prepared a file with our sponsorship approval letter, his return flight details, our canadian bank account details, letter from my dad who we are staying with and our uk mortgage details, anything else?

We are in the exact same position as you. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and a Canadian citizen. I am sponsoring my husband who is British. We have been approved so far. We are moving to Vancouver in august. My husband needs to come back to the UK to write university exams in October so he will be visiting really until he is back after exams. I am wondering how to go about talking to border immigration too. He is flying the week after me as I will be going first with the baby. My biggest fear is that I will go to meet him at the airport and immigration won't let him in as the final approval from CIC won't be through yet.

I imagine since they are visa exempt, it will be ok, plus if he has exams, bring evidence of his return to write them and maybe an exam timetable as proof. I think we'll be ok too, I just don't know what to say to the officer! And do I do the talking or does my husband?
