Not sure if I'm still a PR

I gained PR in 2008 but then left Canada to work in the UK and India. My Canadian common law partner came with me (we've been together 10 years, since early 2006). Our intent was to come back to Canada but the cost of living in the UK has been much higher than we expected. Now my OH is a grandpa and we'd like to have the option to go back, possibly to live and work but definitely at our leisure to see family (his parents are getting old too - I run my own business in the UK so can put life first just now). I've emailed the CIC to ask about my lost and expired PR card to see if I still have status.
OH is a househusband, I'm the business person although in Canada he had a career. His daughter stayed with us as a teen, it's been really quite hard having to choose between locations. UK for my family, Canada for his. OH is also a UK citizen through his father although Canadian born and bred so he has no issues preventing moving back and forth.

you will have PR status unless you have voluntarily given it up or have been asked by the canadian government to relinquish it. if you have done neither then you are STILL a permenant resident.
