I thought my employer will not need one if I have been working there for more than a year?
According to the CIC website:
https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=697&top=29
"Under Express Entry, some LMIA-exempt jobs count towards job offer points. For example, if you are working in Canada on a LMIA-exempt work permit that was issued
under an international agreement or Federal-Provincial-Territorial agreement (or certain other cases),
you don’t need your current employer to get an LMIA for your job offer to be valid. "
or another CIC website here:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/offer-employment/lmia-exempt.html
"Your employer doesn’t need an LMIA to support your job offer if:
- you have been working full-time for the employer on your work permit for at least 1 year (or an equal amount of part-time work)
- you have a valid job offer, and
- you have a valid work permit that is exempt from an LMIA under:
- an international agreement
- a federal-provincial agreement
- the “Canadian interests” category"
My interpretation is that because my work permit is a post-graduate one (under the category of "an international agreement", I should get the 50 points.
