Hi.. I have been in Canada with WP from Jan 2019 and my work permit expires on 01-Jan-2021. My family (wife and kid) came to Canada in May 2019 . My wife got Open WP and then SIN and filed zero tax for 2019. After I completed my 18 months (Jan 2019 to July 2020), my wife applied for CCB in Oct 2020 (considering that 18 months completed for me and i have a valid WP on 19th month - Aug 2020). but i got a reply from CRA stating that we don't meet residency status.

I'm not sure what went wrong with residency status.

The mistake was having your wife apply. She did not have 18 months in Canada. You should have applied.

One of the meeting criteria is 'you must be the person primarily responsible for the care and upbringing of the child' and i have been asked to apply from my wife's CAR login since she is the primary responsible. If i consider myself as the primary then i have to give some letter to CRA.. my friend did like that and he has not received CCB yet. that is the reason i applied in my wife's login

Also as per the eligibility criteria either me or my wife should have completed 18 months of stay and should have valid WP for 19th month. So I have already met the 18 months criteria

Yes we met all the above conditions also have a valid WP till May 2022 i.e, after 18th month too. So should we re-apply for CCB in Oct 2020? Since we had applied CCB during Aug 2020 (before we meet 18 months) in the thought of CRA will pick our application when we fall eligible and process.
Hi SatheshDyn,
I'm exactly in the same situation. Could you update me what happened to your application? did you called CRA? or you reapplied after 18months with all documents again?.
Thanks

So you must apply or wait for her to hit the 18 month mark and she can apply.
