Not able to do upfront medical

Hey guys,
So I've just called the the doctors to try book my medical, and lady has told me, because I've already applied for the visa I cannot do an upfront medical, that I must wait until I get the request.
Very frustrating, has anyone else experienced this?
I feel to call back and try again in the hope someone else will answer the phone.
She said upfront medicals are only for those who have not applied and I have to provide them with some reference number which will be on the medical request I get from cic

Are you in England or Canada right now? I was going to take my medical upfront too as I'll have to go London for it as there aren't any approved centers in the North of England and one of my friends from Canada visiting London so figured I'd get the train down and do the medical at the same time.

Yes, I'm in England. I live in London. This is the only one that do it around here (there are few approved doctors in England)
Having looked on the cic, what the woman is saying is true, that we must do it when we received the request or before we even apply, but I'm wondering how so many people on the forum were able to do medical a upfront?

That does seems strange at first I thought they must have done medical upfront before they applied for PR? but if the spreadsheet is anything to go by many people do seem to have done upfront medical after they received AOR :s I haven't had medical request from CIC, just a long 17 going on 18 month silence.

Yea it is strange. I'm going to call back in a different voice later and try again. Lol!

For my plan b; I'm planning to go to uS for couple months, let's say I recieve my medical request while I am out there, would it be a problem to do my medical in a
Country which is not my country of residence?

It doesnt matter, you can do upfront medical exam. Look for emedical enabled hospitals.

So, the doctor is not aware of upfront medical exam, thats it.

I did upfront medical and ECAS updated with "Medical has been recieved". You need to attach the emedical sheet with file details and send it to CPC ottawa.

Yes, I checked on cic website and they are very limited doctors in England That are approved to do medical a by Cic. They do do emedicals but only when I have the request from cic

How long will my application take if I need a medical exam?
After a medical examination by a Panel Physician, the results are sent for review to the CIC medical office which serves your region. The CIC medical office will assess the results and send their assessment to the visa office which is processing your application.

Processing times can vary but generally:

For temporary resident (visitor, student, worker) applications, it normally takes four weeks after your medical examination before we will contact you regarding the next stage of your application.
For permanent resident applications, it normally takes three months after our medical office receives the medical examination results from the Panel Physician before we will contact you regarding the next stage of your application[. This is true only if you have already complied with our other requests (e.g. to submit other documents).

My medicals were shown on Ecas about 3 weeks after I did the exams (I had the MR in June 2015), on July 14th 2015. Don't have any news since though...

not all docs do upfront medical. you would have to call a diff doc to try your luck.. or maybe upfronts are only done if you are in canada.
