Hello,

My spouse and I are in our late twenties and currently live in the USA and are interested in getting a Canadian PR. We took the CRS test and think we have a decent chance of getting an ITA. However, we have a few questions about the process
1. Can it all be done by the applicants themselves without having to go through an immigration attorney? We are willing to take the time and care to do it ourselves but wanted to check on the forum to see if someone has completed the journey from application to PR all on their own? This would be a huge boost for our confidence.
2. Is it better to gather all documents - police certificates, educational assessments, medical tests etc., before submitting the initial application or is it better to do them after submitting the application and while waiting for the ITA. We do need police certificates from multiple countries since we've each stayed in more than 2 countries for over 6 months.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1 - Most people do it on their own, just do your research and you'll be fine.

2 - You won't be able to create an eligible profile until you have your credentials assessed and your IETLS scores. The US police certificate can take quite a while to obtain if you're not a citizen or permanent resident so you should start working on that.

You can do it on your own but you would need to invest a lot of time for the research. The process is fairly simple and all the information is available on this forum. I know many who've completed on their own & im on that journey myself. The only help an attorney can provide is to tell you what needs to be done when, but for most part you would be doing the hassle paper work.

Medical should be done closer to ITA so no rush on that. First step is to get credential evaluation out of the way. Depending on you/spouse qualifications and doc requirements this could be as simple as 30 days or as lengthy as 60+ . So best to start getting cracking on that asap.
Also IELTS.. dates fill up fast so you may want to start looking at availability immediately.

Fill out your EE profile simultaneously. so when you have the ECA & IELTS, you can submit into pool immediately. These are the only two documents required at this stage

Work on getting work references, pic simultaneously while do you EE & wait for ITA .. all the best
