was there any other way you proved your English proficiency? like a letter from your previous institute in India? did you submit GIC or 1-year fee?
IRCC on their website CATEGORICALLY states that there are country-specific requirements. That's why you have to select your country of residence so that you can get the correct application guide for you.
There's nothing ambiguous about the tweets - it's actually quite clear. The same tweet has been repeated several times both by IRCC India and the official IRCC handle.
Many, many official tweets are released daily by IRCC and Canadian govt in general. Heck, they talk about it on Twitter first, even before we get official comms. This is 2021, Twitter is official . We can't disregard a tweet simply because we don't like what it says, yet chose to believe others...
IRCC even takes Linkedin very seriously and verifies the information for PR applicants regularly, and does ban some of them based on the discrepancy they find between application and Linkedin profile.
Yep. When I applied for SINP, the officers from Saskatchewan snooped on my LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn (premium) has this feature where you can see who checked your profile recently. There was someone from Employment Verification in SK on the list.
Not at all, much of my education was completed in the U.K. , that might perhaps be why I was not required to submit an English-language test

I guess students they maybe be visiting their Facebook and Linkedin profiles to get some opinion on them without referencing them in the notes. Like I have noticed those with public pictures on their Facebook profile with friends do get visas. Those who have more private profiles get refused. I didn't do intensive research on this but I have checked a few profiles of such people.
I referred to the study permit guide for my Visa office; from what I remember, an English-language test was recommended. In any case, I did not submit any proof of English language proficiency and my application was approved

I don’t think it’s about “those who have private profiles are refused” — these ‘social media checks’ are common practice these days in immigration, jobs and even university admissions ( as my brother found out, the guy who interviewed him for a place at an American university checked his LinkedIn profile ) ; that is simply because all of this information is available in the public domain and therefore they’re free to collect and view that information. However I don’t think they refuse your application if you have a private account, or no account at all.
