Did you guys submit the documents requested? Or if not, what response did you give them?
We submitted everything we had even attached a letter explaining that he works with the paramilitary service and no records of war or combat. The documents have since been received as they acknowledged receipt but we haven't heard any update yet

ok, non-routine applications can take significantly longer. As long as they have accepted and there are no red flags then it should just be a matter of time IMO.

Hello dear
I have followed up with IRCC and have been informed that the criminality has passed, and the eligibility is under review. As the eligibility requires additional verifications, the application is considered non-routine and IRCC is unable to provide a timeline for the application.

Pls help, my wife on applied status still work permit not receive,

Hello folks,
Today I did call IRCC to ask about my application that I did submit on Oct 2023, and the officer advised that my application is non-routine, all the tags turned green except the Background verification still in progress, I am wondering why they set my application as a non-routine and what does this involve ? I highly appreciate your advice and feedback

Thank you for your thoughts

Search the forum a bit and you'll find tons of info. People tend to read too much into this "non-routine" designation.

What I read into this non-routine designation is that it's taking far too long to process our application. IRCC tracker shows the last remaining security check listed as IN PROGRESS for months FFS. No additional request for docs for months and it's two years since the IRCC initially received the application. Unacceptable in my books, but then again this is the inept federal govt. hard at work here.

I applied for myself and my family in July 2023. Everything for myself and mu spouse turned green but nothing after that. When we reached out to ircc, they said they are doing background check on my child who is 15 years of age as of date of application and hence background check is under process. It is 17 months since the application and they are still saying that security check is in progress. I don’t know why it is taking forever to complete it for a child who goes to school and does not even work.

does anyone have come across any such case before and also what is the maximum time expectation for non routine applications.

Still no final decision on our file as one background/security check is still outstanding and has been for months. Requested and received GCMS notes from the CBSA but it didn't really shed much light on this situation. Oddly, was able to renew a WP for my wife recently in half the time noted on the IRCC website, at a cost of $255 CAD which would not have been necessary if we had the PR cards in hand.

My wife wishes to exit Canada and attend a family wedding, but not sure if this is possible. One IRCC agent claims it's ok, but her multiple visa has now expired, there is still no PR Card on the way. The WP letter mentions an ETA is embedded into her new passport but not sure if this is enough to allow travel. And of course we now have the Canada Post strike which is going to delay things even more. My sense is if she does travel, will have to somehow obtain a PRTD in the other country to return. Anyone have any insight on this?
