I hear you — and you’re absolutely right to feel frustrated. The wait after AOR can feel endless, especially when you’re stuck in a difficult job situation and feel like your hands are tied.
Let me break it down and give you some clarity, and maybe a little strategy — because you’re not alone in this, even if it feels that way.
Your Frustration Is Valid
What you’re describing is something many August 2024 non-Express Entry PNP applicants are experiencing:
  • No updates after AOR
  • No medical or eligibility progress showing
  • No clear communication from IRCC
  • Work permit tied to an employer who now doesn’t value or support you
This isn’t a small thing — this is your future on the line, and it makes sense to feel drained.
What’s Likely Happening
IRCC’s processing for paper-based and non-EE PNP streams has slowed significantly since late 2024 because of:
  • Internal reshuffling of visa offices
  • Resources diverted to EE and newer pathways (e.g., caregivers, TR2PR, HCCP)
  • Increased security and background verifications
  • Processing office backlogs (especially CIO and Windsor)
It’s not your fault, and it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with your file — it’s just a painful queue.

Your Options – Realistically
1.
Stick with Your PNP Application
If your application is in good shape and just pending background/security, withdrawing now would mean starting from scratch. Since you’ve already waited several months after AOR, it could just be a few more months before real movement happens.
  • If your medical is done or accepted upfront, you’re closer than it feels.
  • GCMS notes can help clarify what stage your file is at.
2.
Work Situation
You said your employer paid for your LMIA-exempt work permit — I assume it’s a closed permit tied to PNP nomination
  • Unfortunately, you’re right: quitting may cancel your nomination and invalidate your PR application unless you’ve passed eligibility already.
  • But taking unpaid leave (if mentally needed) may be an option, depending on your financial situation.
3.
EE Backup Plan

Waiting for EE scores to drop is a gamble, and even if they do, you’d be starting from zero again. Unless you already have 500+ points, this might not be the quicker path.
Suggestions to Regain Some Control
  • Order GCMS Notes ASAP – It’s the only way to see what’s actually going on. You’ll know if eligibility is passed, if criminality/medicals are cleared, or if security hasn’t even started.
  • Email the PNP office (if provincial nomination has conditions) – Some provinces let you change employers if the job duties remain similar.
  • Get Mental Space – This is a hard ask, but taking care of your headspace through counseling, support groups, or even short getaways (if allowed) might help you cope better in the meantime.
  • TRV or Open Work Permit for Spouse? – If you have a spouse with an open work permit or you’re eligible for a BOWP soon, we can explore that too.

You’re doing everything right — you’re just stuck in a broken system that doesn’t move fast enough for the people it affects most. You’ve come too far to give up.
thanks for this miss bee! very helpful!!

It's updated cos they are getting updates . People from august are just stuck
if it gives you any consolation, i actually think that its good we're seeing updates and progress for the July applicants, it just means there are resources (albeit low) still assigned to processing NON EE applications. Once the backlog for the July 2024 applicants thins out or gets completed, its our turn to get updates!

Hi Miss bee, Is it okay to change or quit the job in the case of Non express Entry(OINP-employee job offer stream) if the application status says that you’ve passed eligibility already?

Hi Miss bee, Is it okay to change or quit the job in the case of Non express Entry(OINP-employee job offer stream) if the application status says that you’ve passed eligibility already?
I believe you meant "employer job offer stream".

Read the OINP guide under the employer info:
https://www.ontario.ca/page/oinp-employer-job-offer-streams-employer-guide

Changes in the position of the job offer

You may offer a promotion to the nominee. You will need to notify the OINP and submit a revised job offer signed by you and the nominee. In addition, the nominee will need to submit a copy of their current work permit and their two most recent pay slips. If necessary, the OINP will issue an updated work permit support letter indicating the new position.

You must also notify the OINP if you withdraw the job offer, the nominee declines the job offer or the nominee’s employment is terminated either by you or the nominee. The approval of the employment position and the nomination will be cancelled if the nominee is no longer working for you.

If the Client Application Status Tracker (CAS Tracker) consistently shows an error like “wrong information,” it does not necessarily mean your application is invalid or that your agent did something wrong or suspicious. This issue can occur for several reasons: you may be entering details that don’t exactly match what was submitted (such as incorrect UCI, application number, or personal information), or IRCC may not have linked your application to your GCKey or tracker account yet, especially if the application is recent or still being processed manually. In some cases, if your agent submitted the application using their representative portal, you might not have direct access to the status unless they grant you authorization. It’s also possible that IRCC’s system has temporary glitches. The fact that your agent can check the status suggests the application is still active, so there’s likely no cause for concern regarding validity. However, if you’re unsure or want direct control, you can request a copy of the application details from your agent or submit a representative cancellation form (IMM 5476) to take over communication with IRCC yourself.

Hi Miss bee, Is it okay to change or quit the job in the case of Non express Entry(OINP-employee job offer stream) if the application status says that you’ve passed eligibility already?
In the case of OINP Employer Job Offer Stream (Non-Express Entry), quitting or changing your job after passing eligibility but before receiving PR can still be risky, even if your GCMS notes or PR tracker say “Eligibility Passed.” Here’s why:

Why it’s risky:
  • OINP nomination is job-dependent. The nomination is tied to a specific employer, position, and location. IRCC expects you to maintain that job offer until PR is finalized.
  • Even if IRCC has passed eligibility, they can still reassess your application if they become aware that the conditions of your nomination have changed (e.g., you quit your job).
  • Security and final decision-making are still pending after eligibility. Any change could trigger a reassessment or even refusal under section R87 of the IRPR if IRCC believes the basis of your nomination is no longer valid.
When it might be safe:
  • If you’ve already received your COPR or PR card, you are free to change jobs.
  • If your OINP nomination is not employer-restricted (rare), then job changes may be safer — but most Employer Job Offer streams are employer-specific
If change is unavoidable:

If you must change or quit:
Contact OINP immediately to inform them and ask if your nomination can be maintained or amended.
  1. You can try to find another employer within the same NOC/TEER level, and request a new job offer approval from OINP — though this is not guaranteed.
  2. Expect IRCC to possibly request additional information or reverify your nomination
Recommendation: If possible, wait until your PR is fully approved before quitting. If it’s urgent, consult with an immigration consultant or lawyer to assess the risk in your specific case and whether it can be mitigated.

Thanks for the detailed reply. One more question: If an employer withdraws the job offer, then how much time does a person have to find another job (with work permit) or to stay in Canada without the job offer?

I believe you meant "employer job offer stream".

Thank you for the details.

Absolutely.
I feel he has done something with my file cos when i applied for my work permit they sent it on his address even though i applied for my permit from my portal. Ircc don't know how they sent it on his address and he clearly denied that he never recieved it

Thanks for the detailed reply. One more question: If an employer withdraws the job offer, then how much time does a person have to find another job (with work permit) or to stay in Canada without the job offer?

If Your Employer Withdraws the Job Offer
This has two major impacts:
1.
Effect on Your PR Application
  • Your OINP nomination is employer-specific.
  • If the job offer is withdrawn before you get your PR approval, your nomination becomes invalid.
  • IRCC may refuse your PR application, even if you’re at a late stage (e.g., eligibility passed), because the nomination no longer meets the requirements
2.
Effect on Your Work Permit and Status in Canada
There are two common types of work permits in this situation:
A.
OINP-Supported Employer-Specific Work Permit
If you are on a closed work permit tied to the employer who withdrew the offer, you must stop working immediately.
  • However, you can remain in Canada legally until the permit expires, but cannot work.
  • B.
PGWP or Open Work Permit
If you’re on a PGWP or open work permit, the job withdrawal does not affect your legal status or ability to stay or work elsewhere.
  • However, it may still impact your PR application if the nomination is no longer valid
How Much Time Do You Have to Fix It?
You need to act immediately
Contact OINP right away and inform them of the situation.
  1. If you find a new employer in the same NOC and similar role, you can request a nomination amendment or re-nomination.
  2. OINP might allow this if the new employer meets all eligibility criteria, but there’s no guarantee.

Hello @Miss bee,

From February to April 2025, I worked 32.5 hours per week. However, as of May 1, 2025, I have resumed working full 40 hours per week.
Could you please confirm if I need to formally update OINP regarding this change?

I Already applied for PR Last year November(Non Express Entry)
