Are you inside Canada now? If so, apply to extend your stay as a visitor. (not visitor visa which will allow you to enter Canada as a visitor)

I’m in Canada working now. I’m exploring my options early in case if my employer won’t support my closed work permit before my pwgp expires in December.

I already have a visitor visa to enter and it’s tied to my pgwp expiry date.

I applied for non-ee PR in March. There’s small chance that it will get approved before December 17.

Applying for PR application doesn’t give you implied status automatically. It’s your responsibility to maintain your status in Canada. You should apply to extend your stay in Canada before expiry of your current status.
thx for your swift response., appreciate

Do you have employer restrictions on your nomination letter? If no then you can apply for BOWP .

I do have employer restrictions, I can’t apply for BOWP.

I’m just exploring my options in case my employer decides to not support my closed work permit application.

There is no other option. You can change your status to visitor but you won’t be able to work for your employer and this can result in refusal of your PR application.

I noticed today that in my experience letter, my employer placed wrong YEAR of birth, I have talked to my employer and he is willing to issue to issue a rectified experience letter...shall I send the rectified experience letter to ircc asap with an additional letter of explanation or shall I leave things as is..I have not received PAL yet.

Won’t be an issue. Leave it . Just take new letter from him.

I received Portal 1 email from Montreal about 3 weeks ago and I replied same day, but no updates after that. What will be the next steps and how long do I need to wait?

Obviously I will stop working once it expires. I just need to stay in Canada while my PR is processing as I have no where else to go.

I guess the point here is,

You have applied for PR, with employer restrictions on your nomination. And therefore, if you stop working before you receive your PR, you might get into trouble because it is not possible to change or stop working for an employer as far as I know!

Oh I haven't thought of that. Is there a way to confirm this?

I haven't contacted my employer HR yet about this as there's still time until December. I'm thinking of reaching out around October.

I don't know what their reaction would be for supporting closed work permit as I'm working in a hospital in Ontario. I was told a while ago that they don't sponsor work permit for hiring out of Canada.

I got OINP nomination in April but I'm struggling to get the police records from my home country. Can I do upfront medicals? Do I just book the appointment, get evaluated and submit the report through my PR portal?

Hi, Im a bit confused, Im from Colombia, for the police certificate the PNP website says this:

Police certificate and IRCC requirements
You don’t need to provide a police certificate with your application.

We’ll send you a file number and a letter requesting a police certificate after you send your application for:

  • permanent residence
  • citizenship
  • some temporary residence programs
You must bring the file number and letter when you apply for a police certificate.

what should I submit for this? would an explanation letter work? thank you.
