Hi Everyone,
Please, after the receipt of AOR, can the spouse of the principal applicant(on Tempaorary Resident Permit) apply for an Open Work Permit?
If yes, can we say the same if this spouse(dependent of the main applicant) also doubles as an international student still on study permit(not yet graduated)?
As far as I know, you do not need AOR to apply for a spousal open work permit. If the principal applicant has a work permit, their spouse can apply for an Open work permit. Please see the following links for more information:
1) Spouses or common-law partners of provincial nominees and
2) the new public policy on spousal work permits starting in 2023 (policy and procedures should be coming out soon about this)

However, if your spouse has a valid student permit, you may not need to worry about getting them an open work permit since they may qualify to work unlimited hours off campus. This may save you the hassle of applying, for and waiting for a new work permit for your spouse. Take a look at the section under the heading: Who can work more than 20 hours per week off campus on working off campus.

do you guys know how long it usually takes for final decision from AOR?
Average AoR to CoPR (or DM for approved application) is 61 days based on the below sheet however it can take even more than that. If you're following this thread from the start, you will get to know that there have been ppl who got AoR after 13~14 months and post that, decision was made in 2 months or so.. and there have been folks who got AoR within 1 month or some in 3 month, or some even after 5~6 month, and after their MR/MP/ADR/PAL, still waiting more than 3 and 6 month for decision. I think the sheet indicating 61 days for AOR to COPR is just based on available data user puts into:

Even back in the pre-pandemic era, where ppl got their AOR less than 6 mo, averagely they had to wait for about more than a year for the whole process to be done(AOR~ecopr). IIRC, the published "target" time was 15~18 mo, while the "actual" processing time "based on past xx month data" was the same 20+ mo, tho it seems that lots of ppl had the fortune to be within the target time.

We can't really expect they suddenly become magic performers, especially with those backlogs and work-at-home bs, can we lol

Besides, our category is one of the lowest in the caste...when some of the EE being labeled a 12+ mo "official" processing time, it's not realistic to have high expectations. Of course occasionally lucky ppl emerge but..

Applied non-ee pnp in july 2022, and mailed out the whole application (paper) in July 22, still haven’t heard anything back yet.

Does anyone know should I apply online again? Thanks in advance for any help!
