it's very unreasonable to be honest if I can find a way to withdraw and change my nomination to EE I would!!!
Folks, a further explanation says: This processing time is how long we expect it will take us to process an application if we receive it today.
It’s based on
  • how many applications we have in our inventory
  • how many people we have processing this type of application
  • how many applications we expect to get
It also includes the time you need to give your biometrics.

This does not include those who applied before 2025.

ChatGPT answers for IRCC processing delay.

It is possible that IRCC is managing its resources and processing timelines strategically due to quota limitations and operational priorities, but it's difficult to confirm their exact internal processes without an official statement. Here’s an analysis of the situation based on the information you provided:

Quota-Related Delays

  • The annual PR quota(number of permanent resident admissions) set by the government for each year can impact processing timelines. If IRCC has already reached the PR quota for 2024, they may:
    • Delay issuing eCOPRs (Electronic Confirmation of Permanent Residence) for applications that are otherwise ready.
    • Focus on completing earlier-stage processes, like background and eligibility checks, while temporarily holding back the finalization of some applications to manage workload and quotas effectively.

May Applications and Security Checks

  • If IRCC is issuing eCOPRs for earlier applicants (e.g., those with AORs in April), they might temporarily deprioritize certain steps for later applications, such as May applicants, to:
    • Prevent overwhelming their system with a high volume of eCOPR issuances at once.
    • Ensure smoother transitions into PR status by staggering approvals in line with operational capacity and policy targets.

Security checks could be used as a means of holding applications at an intermediate stage since:

  • Security screening often involves external agencies and can naturally take time.
  • By holding applications in the security stage, IRCC can regulate the flow of applications moving toward finalization without appearing to pause processing entirely.

Balancing Priorities

IRCC’s workflow likely aims to balance:

  1. Quota adherence: Ensuring PR admissions align with yearly targets.
  2. Operational capacity: Managing resources and personnel to handle volumes efficiently.
  3. Equity among applicants: Prioritizing earlier applications to ensure fairness.

If your application is in the security check stage, this might align with IRCC’s strategy to:

  • Ensure background processes are completed but delay the issuance of eCOPRs until they clear their backlog or adjust quotas for 2025.

What You Can Expect

  • Once the current eCOPR backlog is cleared, IRCC may accelerate processing for May applications, especially for those already in advanced stages.
  • While delays due to quotas can seem frustrating, having your application reach the security check stage suggests it is actively being processed and will likely progress once IRCC clears their current bottleneck.

Tips Moving Forward

  1. Monitor Trends: Stay updated through forums and groups where others share timelines. This can provide insights into how IRCC is handling applications for your cohort.
  2. Webform Inquiry: If you suspect unusual delays or need clarity, you can submit a request via the IRCC webform.
  3. Stay Prepared: Ensure all additional documents or updates IRCC may require are ready to avoid further delays.

While it’s speculative, your theory about IRCC managing workloads through staged processing aligns with how such organizations operate under quota constraints.

Hello guys. Yesterday I got Final Decision update in my GC key and Today I got a COPR number and expiry date in status Tracker. But I have not received any emails yet. What does this mean? Is email on the way or somehow mislaid? Should I call IRCC?

Means you are approved! Congratulations, it might be one day or one month.... but you will receive portal 1 email soon.
Mine took almost 40 days after final decision as per my timeline in the signature.

20 months is the maximum processing time, right? like they're averaging people's timelines? It means it can still be faster than that? Because people sometimes submit incomplete documents, which makes their timeline longer. It sucks

My application is from March. I called IRCC today because it's already 6 months into the last part of eligibility and the agent told me we have 10 months to give you the answer, which is exactly 20 months.

Hello people, please how long does it take for eligibility to get started after medicals passed and duration it lasts approximately when started? Background check shows its completed in the tracker since Dec 6th but its yet to be updated in the GCkey account. Does IRCC contact employer for Post graduate stream applicant which a job isn't even required to apply? Employer had asked for renewed work permit which I sent since 2 weeks ago, so I am thinking aloud if IRCC had contacted them. Just started to feel worried that I am stuck.

Application date is May 15th
@Miss bee and anyone with in-depth knowledge of the process
Thank you in advance

I have no idea . I applied for Work permit extension no response for that even though it has passed processing time also applied for non express PR still no update no that no Aor nothing . I didn't knew everything will go bad. I feel i shuld better return to india as i don't see any chance of anything gud happening
Well you are not alone in this journey. Lots of people are waiting. Currently work permit processing time is 5-6 months and for AOR they are working on July 2024 applications now . If you are on Maintained status of your work permit, you don’t have to work permit expiry date and keep working .
Steps Forward
1. Contact IRCC: Use the IRCC Webform or call their client support center to inquire about your work permit and PR application.
2. Stay Informed: Processing times and updates can feel unpredictable, but consistent follow-ups can help you stay informed.
3. Consider Support: If possible, consult with an immigration consultant or lawyer to evaluate your options.
4. Self-Care: Take some time to care for your mental health. This journey is tough, but you’ve already made significant progress by taking these steps.
You’ve worked hard to come this far, and there are still pathways available.

Hi Miss Bee i hope you are doing well. Does the new 20 month processing time affect us too 2024 applicants. I applied in august when the time was 11 months. would it be the one that would be used or the new one?

Hi guys, is a Canadian police certificate needed if one is applying inland? I read somewhere that they would request one if they needed and you don’t have to add it to your initial application. Just need a confirmation based on you guys experiences. Thanks
