i just received my PR and upon my first arrival at Vancouver I was questioned why I didn’t include my daughter born from another mother out of my existing marriage way back 9 years ago after being asked if I have a child aside from the ones in my family application. With this they did not permit me to leave the port of entry (Vancouver) pending resolutionnof my case the next day. May I know if I violated immigration law since in my understanding I did not include my illegitimate child since my wife only knew it later and not to add insult to her by complicating our situation.

Hope you will help me on this.

My intention is to sponsor the mentioned illegitimate child once my PR is approved of course if my wife and the child’s mother will agree.

By not declaring your child you committed misrepresentation and put your whole application and status in Canada in jeopardy.

Did you actually land or are you still waiting to see what will happen with your PR?

When a person lands, they are forever excluded from sponsoring any non-declared family members. These family members are excluded from the family class permanently.

Yes - you violated immigration law by failing to declare and include this daughter in your application.

I landed yesterday and currently staying in hotel pending results of their resolution. May I know if I have options to rectify this?

If you landed without adding the child to the application, there's no rectifying it. You can never sponsor this child to Canada.

The only possible option would be to renounce your PR and start the process all over again from scratch, making sure to add all your family members this time. But that's something most people find too risky to do.

Did they actually return a signed and dated copy of your COPR? If they didn’t, you still haven’t landed (and based on your comments, that seems highly likely) and they are determining if they are going to let you continue the process. As stated above, you’ve committed misrepresentation and have risked your entire PR.

Would this affect the PR Of my wife who is the principal applicant and children Who came ahead of me in Canada since August 2018 or mine alone?

Since they are here already since August they must have signed it but I’m not that sure.
Yes, but what happened with your case? You said you were questioned and not allowed to leave port of entry and that you had to wait for the resolution of your case the next day. What happened that next day? Or is it yet to happen?

In theory they could cancel all of your PR statuses. Your wife, as principal applicant is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the application. You will just need to see what happens next but don't anticipate a happy outcome.

People who come up against IRPR 117(9)(d) rarely succeed in their plans.
