If your spouse is already in Canada and you have them as non-accompanying, it may well cause your application to deviate from "standard processing".
She is not in Canada yet. She is still in the process of applying to universities for September 2020 batch. Can you please suggest what should I do now ? Will this cause my application void or refused ?

If she is not in Canada, it will be less of an issue. You will need to explain the reasons however. It doesn't automatically cause the application to be refused in either case. However we have seen visa officers being very concerned when a non-accompanying partner is already inside Canada.

Thank you for your quick response. One of the reasons why I am not adding her is my fear or apprehension of her student permit refusal if her PR application is in process. Does this reason sounds reasonable ? Again really appreciate your insight with my situation.

It would be irrelevant probably, as she will still have to be fully included in the PR application. The only difference is if a COPR is issued or not.
They (IRCC) will still have visibility to both applications and be able to draw their own conclusions.

Will COPR is a long away from me as I just created my EE profile with CRS score 467. I haven't done her ECA or IELTS GT yet. I was not aware not including her will lead to complications . Would you suggest I include my wife with my application or to take chance as being a single applicant .

Well, you can't be a "single" applicant as your wife needs to be included anyway. She will have to take the medical examination and pass all of the background checks, accompanying or non-accompanying. IRCC will have her information from the PR application and be able to see it when she applies for a study permit. It's up to you...

Thanks for your insight. I have another query if I include her in PR application can still try for study permit and will it affect her chance of being issued study permit ? Because this process will take at least an year from now and she doesn't want to miss upcoming fall semester intake.

That's always a risk. However, if you are eligible for PR via Express Entry and you get selected, the normal process is about 6 months if I remember correctly. It would certainly save on paying international student's fees if she was a PR.

Hi Guys ,

Need your help. I created my express entry profile with non accompanying spouse since my wife will be pursuing master's in coming semester in Canada and was not interested to be part of PR application. Once I receive ITA will this cause an issue with my case ? Appreciate any help with this scenario.
Not believable. If anything, the fact that she wants to come to Canada to do a Master's degree is even more reason to include her as accompanying so that she will pay domestic tuition fees.

If you are putting her as non-accompanying for the extra points, you need to be honest and state that.

Well my crs score doesn't get affected by including her. She had already given her IELTS GT at the beginning of this year. However with my repetitive failure in IELTS to secure CLB 9 and with the rise in CRS score we decided to send her to pursue master's as a backup plan. Now my CRS score stands at 467. And I was not aware of complications of non accompanying spouse issue. Without her ECA my score falls down to 459 but with her ECA and IELTS it stands at 467. I will start with the ECA process and mean while change my profile from non accompanying to accompanying spouse. Will wait for another 3 months to get her ECA done and will enter express entry pool
