My husband and i got married last month ,feb 2017. He has a plan of sponsoring me and my 5yr old kid (fr a previous relationship) to Canada. My problem is , i wouldnt be able to get a consent from my ex since i dont know his whereabouts, 2nd we parted ways with not so good ending , he stopped supporting the kid for 4 yrs . The pain that he left was so much and the struggles ive went through was so much just to raise my kid. He had a petition then from US from his mom . US was so far from the Philippines and i couldnt run after him just to ask for a child support . My problem now is , on the spousal sponsorship with dependents there is a form which needs to be signed by the biological father . Even if i would find ways of contacting him , what if he refused to cooperate and doesnt want to sign the consent form ? We were not married then. The kid remains illegitimate . Though he acknowledged my son on his birth cert but he didnt become a responsible Dad. We were abandoned and i was left with all the responsibilities . Another thing , the last name of my kid was his , is there a need to change my kids last name to mine instead ? Would it matter on the sponsorship application? Pls help
