Hi posters,
Can someone please clear my doubts on the following issue:

10. NON-ACCOMPANYING FAMILY MEMBERS DECLARATION (IF APPLICABLE):
If you have a spouse, common-law partner or dependent children and you do not
intend to include them in your application for permanent residence
, submit with your
application a notarized statutory declaration stating your intention to proceed to
Canada without your family members, and confirming that you understand that your
family members must meet immigration requirements in their own right if they wish
to join you in Canada.

What if my spouse has a child (my step-child), who
is included in the application (listed under Family members in IMM 0008gen),
but is not accompanying us to Canada. Will accompany you to Canada? No

There, I do not know what to think of that. The child is included in our application, as opposed to the instruction requirement, but still is not accompanying us to Canada.

My question therefore is: Do we need to provide the above mentioned declaration or not?

Thanks to all knowledgeable and kind people who care to reply. It helps tremendously. Thanks

Can you link to the site where you found this clause? Generally you must include your spouse and dependent children in your application. There are exceptions, for example if you and your spouse are separated or if your dependent child is in the full custody of the other parent and you do not have access to the child to get the medical examination done.

In any case, this does not apply to you. You will include the child in the application but as non-accompanying. The child will have medicals done and your wife will keep the option open to sponsor it later.

Hi Leon and others,
I found the above mentioned instruction 10.NON-ACCOMPANYING FAMILY MEMBERS DECLARATION,
in the: Application for Permanent Residence –Skilled Worker– Visa Office Specific Instructions Singapore

cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37057.pdf

Thank you for your reply Leon, but I still am unsure.
Do we need to provide that declaration or not?

That point in the instruction guide is contradictory (10. Non-Acc. fam. members).
But I guess that declaration is necessary only for people who do not include their spouses, common-law partners and kids in the application and at the same time these fam. mebers do not accompany the principal applicant to canada.
In my case the child is included in the application but will stay living with his father and not accompany us to Canada.
So I suppose we do not need to provide that declaration (10. Non-Acc. fam. members decl.), am I correct?
Thanks

You do not need this declaration. The child here is included in the application but as a non-accompanying and you will keep the option open to sponsor later.

Thanks Leon,
for clarifying this point.
You are a big help.

By the way, do you know whether this line, "notarized employment contracts from present and past employers" means getting the contracts from every single employer I worked for?
Regardless of the job classification?
I mean if I worked in a job classified under skill level C (or below, Bank Clerk) for 3 months. Do I still need to submit the contracts and ref. letters for that job?
Thank you for your help.

I can't imagine that you have to go back to old employers and ask them to make a contract if you never made one in the first place. If you have a copy of the contract, send it. If you don't have a copy, you can ask the employer if they have a copy they could give you. If there was no contract, get a statement from the employer stating when you worked for them and include a letter with your application stating why you don't have a contract for each job.

Hi Leon,
I hope you don't mind if I ask 1 or 2 more questions since I believe that you are an experienced pro who knows the answers.

1. By submitting the passport copy to the VO (Singapore), does that photocopy has to be notarized?
Or just a simple photocopy with no notarization is fine?

2. A bank statement has to be signed and stamped by the bank?
I have a bank account in a country different from the one where I reside now. Is it ok, to prin-out my on-line account statement (with no signatures whatsoever)?

Thank you for your help

1. I don't think it has to be notarized.

2. A bank letter with a stamp and signature is a lot stronger than an online account statement.

Thanks again for the answers, Leon.

About the first one I still have doubts. But if you do not know, nevermind.
I also think just a simple passport copy is sufficient.

here is what they write at the beginning of the VO instruction:
Do not send originals unless otherwise stated. Send notarized photocopies of all documents except the police certificates.

If a passport copy is a document, which I am not sure that it is, then I guess they want it also notarized.
Maybe I am wrong.

If the instructions say that you must get it notarized, then of course you should do that.

Hi leon so the non accompanying dependent children only need the medical dones? like i applied outland on the family class and i added my step child but shes not comming with my husband to canada, i sent a birth certificate and medical report i didnt send a police certificate because shes 2 years old, is there something that i missed?
