Do 22 years old non accompanying dependents have to undergo medical exams ?

Yes, all your family members have to do medicals whether accompany or none accompanying, so long as they are your immediate family members.

Hope it helps.

No, this is not correct.
Non-accompanying members need not to have medical examination.
The medical examination is set to verify that the applicant(s) and the accompanying famiy members do not pose a medical threat on the canadian society.

Since a member is not moving to Canada, what's the need for his medical tests?!!

Only applicant and accompanying persons have to pass the medical examination.

Hi Iceberg7,
I think you do not understand, if the 22 year old is your son, then whether he is accompanying you or not he still has to undergo the medical exams, if he is mentioned in the application as your son, even though he is not accompanying you at the moment.
This is because you might have intentions to sponsor him in the future.

So you better go and read very well the section of medicals.

Thanks.

Hi Iceberg7 and Ario

Ario please read that info carefully always read from the CiC website after getting advice, this is because not all advice is correct, like what Iceberg7 has just said it is wrong.

Info below from CiC. please always give advice only when you are sure of the information. Sometimes you can make someone to take wrong decision and lead to his file being rejected after spending lots of money.

Medical exam requirements for permanent residents

You must pass a medical examination before coming to Canada. Your dependants must also pass a medical examination even if they are not coming with you.

Applications for permanent residence will not be accepted if that person’s health:

* is a danger to public health or safety; or
* would cause excessive demand on health or social services in Canada.

Medical Examination Instructions
Instructions on how to take the medical examination will normally be sent to you after you submit your application to the visa office.

Validity
You can only use your examination results in your application for 12 months from when you had the examination. If you are not admitted to Canada as a permanent resident within this time, you will be required to undergo another examination.

Authorized Doctors
Your own doctor cannot do the medical examination. You must see a physician on Canada’s list of Designated Medical Practitioners.

Medical Report Procedures
Medical reports and x-rays for the medical examination become the property of the Canadian Immigration Medical Authorities and cannot be returned to you.

The doctor will not tell you the results of the medical examination. The doctor will let you know if you have a health-related problem.

The designated medical practitioner does not make the final decision. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will make the final decision on whether or not you have passed your medical examination for immigration purposes.

The visa office will tell you in writing if there is a problem with your medical examination.

Does it mean that the child we are declaring as non accompanying can be sponsored in the future?
Under what conditions? because somebody 22 at present is not getting younger ,are they?
What is the limit for someone not to be a dependent?

Hey..canadaforall..

Easy..easy..
U can affirm your claims without giving speeches!

And there's no need to brag with irrelevant information like "Validity" & "Authorized Doctors"!!!

Anyways, I still wonder about the usage of term "dependent" since, by definition, it refers to "be under the age of 22". Which is not the case here!

Ario,
Well, i know you can put your family members like non accompany and then sponsor them later, for wife i am certain, but for children i do not know what age you can sponsor them. Please let the experts come in and help him.

But i am sure you are clear now that all of you have to take the exam, whether accompanying or not.

That is all i know,

Hi Canadaforall
Thanks you are so helpful.
I was under the impression that they ,CIC, want people to immigrate with their dependents regardless of the applicant's will nor the dependents will .
What if the latter do not want to immigrate to Canada? ,surely some one at 22 should be able to make their own decisions as to where they want to live
Thanks anyway ,I will give you a summary of my case later, may you would understand then why I have been asking these questions

That is fine, the forum members will be waiting to help advice you and also get help from the experts like Qorax, Pmm and the others. I will send a response when i am very sure about the answer.

To Iceberg7,
Sorry for the spelling mistake, it is "excuse me" and not exercise me. Sometimes i am just lazy to read over my post.

.
Thanks

The reason was the 22 years dependent could refuse to take the medicals since they don't stay with me and they don't want to go so they don't see the logic in going thru with the procedure. So what is the situation in that case ?

Then that is a difficult situation, again i will refer you to the Seniors, if you could write a cover letter to the visa office about this, please confirm with Seniors. I mean Qorax, Pmm and others.

Hope it helps.

I need some help. I am sponsoring my husband and his dependent is listed as a non-accompanying minor since the mother does not want to sign the forms and give permission for the child to travel and come live with us. We got the medical exam notice in May 2022 but she refused to get it done and now has fled to USA and applied for refugee with the child. I have written to Immigration to let them know and ask on advise on how to proceed but have gotten no response. I am afraid this is causing my husband's papers to be delayed. Does anyone have any information on what to do next.
P.S: our application got sent to the Etobicoke center in July but no one has gotten in contact with us regarding the matter.
