Hi all,
I was informed that Nominee Programs are going to be discontinued in early 2013. Can someone confirm this or shed some light on when exactly this might happen?
This is so saddening as immigrant authorities are really changing rules for worse.
Happy holidays by the way. :D

Where did u read that?

Who 'informed' you ? Seeing the new 2013 CEC rule and other initiatives to invite more immigrants I strongly doubt any discontinuation on PNP front.

I was searching for it and couldn't find anything about it and therefore opened this thread, but as for your questions:

The International Student Advisor at my university informed me and he was certain that this will happen, but as for time he wasn't sure. He said, it might even take place on Jan 1, 2013!!!
Well, I don't know but if this happens, I'm screwed! The immigration authorities should either inform the public about such changes in advance and make it clear. I was one of students who were affected in 2010 when rules changed 'overnight' and in a week I became ineligible to apply for PR!!! I honestly hope this won't happen now that I want to apply for NSNP.

Any one else knowing about this from a more legit source?

There will be many who would get screwed. This is one of the major reason why International students prefer Canada over United states. Jan 1 is not far now when new CIC immigration rules are being introduced but with all that I followed there has been a strong urge to support more immigrants by flexible laws. I can see no logical reason why PNP would be changed..let's wait and watch though!

well... i think its a false news.....

bcoz i received an email from PNP... that this year's quota is over.... i'll receive my application no in the end of Jan,2013...

Thanks Umair. I hope you are right! Honestly, I doubt piece of information is right and I told the advisor too but he was certain that this WILL happen!!!!! :(

Mind sharing what letter from PNP mentioned exactly (obviously omitting your personal stuff you don't want to share).
Thanks

Sidenote: Quoting from a friend of mine:

Well, it seems PNPs differ from each other. I live in Nova Scotia and the following might be relevant to my fellow NSns (hahaha cool abbreviation, eh? :D):

The new Canadian Experience Class in the Federal Immigration Program is the reason PNP is being phased out, albeit up to each province's discretion. So NS is going with that, as they told us. Nothing yet is official thus you can't find anything on their website. Yet.
So better to be in Ontario that NS eh? :)

I guess following table of target nomination may help
