Hi everyone,
I am badly stuck at a point for choosing my NOC code,I have worked in production support for 2.4 years in one of the IT companies for which the most matched Noc is 2282 which is user support technician but i did not had direct interaction with the user..it was L1 production support project of incident resolution..On analysing other Noc’s i found only this to be most matched one but since user was never directly involved so I am really confused about how to go ahead.Due to this issue i am unable to submit my EE profile even after a good CRS score of 443.Also,i reached to my HR who denied to give any reference letter stating my roles and responsibilties.Experts please guide on this.It would be a great help..
TIA
Did you check NOC 2171 or 2173? Job title does not matter only job duties matter. Duties must match the lead statement and substantial number of main duties mentioned in the selected NOC description. First write down your duties and then just select the NOC which best suits your duties. You can show this to your friends and family and ask their suggestions.
Regarding second part of your concern, a reference letter on a company letterhead with job details and detail roles and responsibilities is a compulsory document to swiftly pass through the eligibility phase of Express Entry assessment.
The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared
a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
- should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
- should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits;

If you fail to get the letter meeting the requirements mentioned above your application may face rejection. But there is a way out if company denies to give the letter as per the IRCC requirements. First get the standard reference letter from the HR. Then get a rejection email or written document from HR stating that it is against the company policy to provide roles and responsibilities in the standard reference letter. If you cannot get it then explain in Letter of Explanation that it is against the company policy.
Now you need to get the letter on a plain paper from your supervisor or any colleague where he/she says that, you both were working for the same company (put job title, duration, reporting manager name) and he/she observed you to perform the the following duties (put duties). At last his/her name and designation, phone and email address. Notarize the letter and submit along with standard letter you got from HR and other documents such as pay stubs, tax documents, appointment letter, promotion letter, job contract etc. At last write a detailed LoE, explain why you could not get the letter with full requirements, and provide full company contact information (land phone number, email, website). You have to convert all documents into pdf file and then merge them together to form a single pdf file which must not exceed the 4mb limit file size.
This is the best way to tackle the situation where company denies to include Job duties in reference letter. But I must warn you, as you are not providing Job duties in your official experience letter, Case Analyst will not pass your eligibility directly and will mark it as "review required". From the current trend we are seeing "review required" files are taking
6 months to a year to be reviewed by an Officer and finalized. Ultimately you will go through but be prepared for long wait. If you want to avoid this delay then you have to get a letter from your employer on a company letterhead which should have all your job details including your job duties and responsibilities.
Hope it helps, good luck!
