Hey guys,

I am currently working as a junior accountant and my contract has mentioned these duties for the job:

I had applied NOC Code 1111 for this job and received an ITA, however, I recently saw NOC Code 1311 and find it more similar. I now have a few questions if someone is kind enough to answer them:

  1. Can someone suggest if I should use NOC Code 1111 or NOC 1311 for this job?
  2. Can I change my NOC code for this job if NOC 1311 should have been chosen considering the fact the score would have remained the same?
  3. How do I notify the Immigration department about NOC code change, if I am allowed to change NOC Code?
  4. Would the current duties be enough or should I ask my employer to add all my duties to reference letter? The contract only mentions the repetitive duties only not the other duties which I may have performed one-off or less frequently during my tenure.
NOC 1111 Job Duties:
  • Plan, set up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information for individuals, departments within organizations, businesses and other establishments
  • Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports
  • Develop and maintain cost finding, reporting and internal control procedures
  • Examine financial accounts and records and prepare income tax returns from accounting records
  • Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice
  • May act as a trustee in bankruptcy proceedings
  • May supervise and train articling students, other accountants or administrative technicians.
NOC 1311 Job duties:

  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Post journal entries and reconcile accounts, prepare trial balance of books, maintain general ledgers and prepare financial statements
  • Calculate and prepare cheques for payrolls and for utility, tax and other bills
  • Complete and submit tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms and other government documents
  • Prepare tax returns and perform other personal bookkeeping services
  • Prepare other statistical, financial and accounting reports.
Thanks for your time guys
