Hi guys! I am currently on PGWP and I just got an offer of "PC Technician" position. AFAIK, PC Technician can also be considered as Computer Repair/Service Technician, which belongs to "2242 Electronic service technicians (household and business equipment)".

However, the main duties that are written on my job offer do not exactly match word for word to that of 2242. I am wondering which NOC Type this belongs:

- Desktop support
- RMA Support
- Retail Service Desktop
- All repairs to be turned around within 2-3 days maximum
- Update service ads on kijiji weekly
- Send out monthly promotional information to customer emails in Ticket system (newsletter)
- Work with tech department in areas of high priority
- Create promotion for instore items for service sales

Thank you in advance!

The most important factor when matching NOC is not the title itself. Your job duty must entirely match the lead statement (the statement on NOC website below the title) and also match the majority of the main duties. See quote below from IRCC Operational Manual.

In addition, during that period of employment, the applicant must have:
  • performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation(s) as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R87.1(2)(b)]; and
  • performed a substantial number of the main duties, including all the essential duties, of the occupation(s) as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R87.1(2)(c)].

Hello Guys,

I am Mechanical Engineer and having Indian work experience for 3 years as a Project Engineer and here in Canada I completed 2 post graduation programs. Currently I am working as Mechanical Estimator since 2 years.

While applying my PR should I go for NOC 2132 or NOC 2232, though my job roles and responsibilities are mostly matching with 2232.?

Also, when I applied for spousal visa, consultant mention my job position as NOC 2232 in her visa cover letter, will it create any problem if I applied my PR under NOC 2232 ?

Need your suggestions people.

Thanks in advance.
