Hi,
I have been a loyal reader of all information provided and shared on the forums on here and I have noticed that a good percentage of applications are rejected or delayed processing due to the job duties and responsibilities listed on reference letters pertaining to the individual applicant's NOC code.
A lot of advisors on here have recommended that once the reference letter is at hand, to email it to the HRSDC requesting that they review the duties and responsibilities listed (along with the NOC code provided) and confirm that it actually belongs to the NOC code of the applicant's.
Apparently, once HRSDC responds with an emailing confirming that all the duties and responsibilities match to the NOC code of the applicant's, then this email can be sent along with the PR application as proof for the CIO that the duties and responsibilities have been run by the HRSDC.

My questions are:
1) How many applicants on here have done this?
2) When sending in the email to HRSDC is it safe to send all your other information, such as, name, place of work, salary, dates etc?
3) Any other recommendations?

1. I did inquire the HRSDC to confirm my NOC code but they responded by saying that they wanted degree requirements to narrow down the NOC Code. So I typed out the degree requirements and gave them the NOC code that I used for applying under CEC and then they confirmed my code as 2171 :P So I'm not sure how well they can assess this. The email quoted something like "We have suggested the NOC code based on the information provided. But however, you are the best person to judge which NOC code fits your job description" which I agree!

2. I did this inquiry after sending my application package. So, I did not attach their response

3. My opinion: You can add this as a proof however there is no guarantee that VO will not reject if your NOC code doesn't match!

Hi Vijay,
Thank you for the message. When you speak about degree requirements are you referring to the degree and diploma certifications?

Also, the response that they sent you is very vague!

Yeah yeah the diploma, certifications/academic qualifications required by the employer (CIC does not give a damn about these requirements. All they care is about responsibilities and duties whether they sync with NOC code). Let me paste their first correspondence:

In order for us to provide you with a potential NOC code, we require the following additional information about the occupation:

- a more detailed description of the main duties;
- the education required for entry into the occupation.

For reasons of security and privacy we ask that you do not send us any personal documentation electronically, such as resumes and government-issued case numbers or information.

Thank you,

Second email: This is the funny part! I gave them the same main duties but this time I changed all of that to bullet form and then gave my education requirements. Then I told them I used 2171 for CEC and then they responded with their second email:

Based on the information that you have provided, the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) code may be appropriate for the occupation that you described. Please verify the link below to ensure that the education, main duties and employment requirements correspond to your occupation. You are in a better position to determine whether or not this NOC code reflects your job. Please note that this code is from the NOC 2006 version as many departments (such as Citizenship and Immigration Canada) and organizations will continue to use the 2006 version for the next few years.

NOC code 2171 Information Systems Analysts and Consultants:

We hope this response has answered your questions, if not, simply reply to this e-mail ensuring that your reference number remains in the subject line.

Thank you,

Thank you,

This is like a maze! Why can't they give a definite answer and complete the matter, they are HRSDC for God's sakes.

Vijay, you have been very helpful so far and I thank you.

But, as far as the duties and responsibilities listed on the website for your NOC code 2171:
1) Did you just copy and paste those from the website (website for NOCs) and then put it on to your reference letters?
2) Did you re-word them?
3) Did you mention duties and responsibilities on the lines of what were listed on the website for your NOC or did you add additional duties and responsibilities?

I am sorry, these are too may questions, may be irritating for some people, but, in month, I will be applying for my PR and I want to do the best job I can do for the application and that's why all the questions.

Yes you are right! That's why I'm skeptic whether I should really take advice from these guys.Having said that, I also have to agree that 2171 is kind of "special" because it covers a wide range of jobs. If you looked into 2171, the duties and responsibilities are not exactly precisely listed out in bullets like other NOC codes. It's a long SENTENCE which describes all these responsibilities. So I will not blame those guys completely. To be honest, it was hard to identify this as my NOC code myself because the responsibilities and duties are very VAGUE.
My recommendations for you:
(a) I recommend that it's always good to get a second opinion. So I would ask you get in touch with these HRSDC people anyways.
(b) Look into my thread where I posted my reference letter and asked for people's opinion. You can do that too and we might be able sort of help you out : Here's my thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t142335.0.html
Also, find a member here who has applied using your NOC code who can help you identify whether your duties and responsibilities match the NOC code. ANDY2109 responded and he has applied using the same NOC code as mine and I took his word for it.

As far as your questions go.. These are my answers:
1. NO I DID NOT COPY PASTE FROM HRSDC WEBSITE. PLEASE DON'T EVER EVER DO THAT!!!!
2. My employer had a standard letter describing my duties and responsibilities. I used that which is similar the HRSDC NOC CODE 2171
3. I did not add anything extra. I didn't know what else to be added haha. You can click on the thread I posted and see my reference letter and then have my NOC 2171 from HRSDC open for reference. That might answer the question

No frustrations! I completely understand where your coming from.. This process is hectic and I dont blame you for asking questions like this
