NOC implications

Hi all,

I have just started to get all the documents required for my Express Entry profile. I have a question with regards to the NOC section. I am a regulatory/ compliance officer in Banks (investment banks, corporate baks, private banking). I have moved between banks in cities in the UK and also in the European Union so the job titles differ. However, my actual work is more or less the same as all the banks have reporting obligations set by the EU and also KYC/Compliance requirements are standard across the EU(more or less).

My question - I found a job code under NOC code A for Regulatory compliance officer (1122 Professional Occupations in Business Management Consultancy). The job duties specified most closely resemble the actual work I do but in the banks and NOT Business Management Consultancy. Also, the education requirements listed under the NOC category are what I have actually studied in my Bachelors(obtained in India) and Masters degrees(obtained in the UK). Please can someone advise me on this matter. Would it be okay if I filled my application for Express Entry with this job code? Would that create any issues along the way or is a little bit of leeway allowed? I am unable to understand why the job category only mentions Business Management Consultancy and not Banking. The regulatory framework in the EU is mandatory and every bank/financial institution HAS TO comply and legally report.

Thanks in advance :)

I am sorry if my post turns out to be of no help but finding a NOC code is purely a matter of personal research in some cases. I am a healthcare manager (actually a physician executive) yet could have taken the above code but then went through a fine comb to check all roles and responsibilities and choose 0311. So my two cents are as follows:
Match duties and not the designation
See if you can get reference letters accordingly and
Look out for any exclusions or special requirements in those NOC (like 0311 has a medicine degree or degree in a medical field a requirement)

Some NOCs you can look in to are as follows:
0111
1114
0122
0125

All the Best

Hi CanDok,

Thank you very much for looking into this and advising :)

So, choose the closest possible match and then explain and elaborate further about our job roles in the application. Is that how it works for most successful applications?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Sorry I saw this message now. I chose the closest match i.e. Regulatory compliance officer (1122 Professional Occupations in Business Management Consultancy) although I have worked in banks under the compliance/KYC/Regulations departments and never in a consultancy. As soon as I got the ITA, I prepared all my job duties in such a way that they correspond to the explanation provided in the job code description and are also true so that all my employers would give the reference letters without any issues. I guess it's just about tweaking a few words here and there as long as you don't lie or drift off so much so that the employers refuse to sign your references. My application is still in the PR process and have not received a COPR yet so, I can't confirm whether this technique is a hit or a miss!

Anyways, good luck with your application :)

Ok cool. No probs. Can you please provide your DnR draft if possible, just to get an idea of the format. Thank you once again and all the best for your application.
