Hello,

I see that many applications for NOC 1212 got rejected. What are the key words that would help me in my reference letter? Would the following suffice?

Title- Billing Analyst

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for accuracy of work completed by payroll clerks while posting in accounts for taxes, payroll, garnishments and affiliates.
• Supervised journal entries, invoices and billings related to fleet charges reconciliation submitted by Procurement specialist.
• Lead process of postings to cost centers and prepared reports to assign outstanding billings to responsible facility.
• Trained employees regarding different types of fleet charges for accurate accounting.
• Coordinated and ensured proper level of authorization for purchase orders.
• Identified and initiated implementing efficient work processes.

I would really appreciate your help. I don't think express entry is the right choice for me.

it sounds like you have the right NOC, but consider the lead statement: "Supervisors in this unit group supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers in the following unit groups: Accounting and Related Clerks (1431), Payroll Clerks (1432), Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Clerks (1434) and Collectors (1435)."

Your letter of employment should give a general description of what you do, and it should include a description of the PEOPLE that you supervise.

Your first duty is good, can you give a number of clerks? Wherever possible, word your duties in a way that reflects the supervision of other workers. For example, you don't "supervise journal entries," you supervise the procurement specialist.

Appreciate your response Jes. There were 3 clerks who made payments for payroll and I reviewed their work. You are correct regarding the second line, I should state "supervised work related to .... submitted by procurement specialist". I also wrote I assigned outstanding billings and trained employees. Are the officers stringent with regards to matching NOC code?

Yes, they are. The duties in the letter shouldn't be identical to the NOC (e.g. shouldn't be copied, it just looks generic and fake then), but the lead statement and duties should clearly correspond to your role and duties described in the letter.

The tricky part is the interpretation of "supervisor" (same issue with "manager"). The trend has been that CIC wants to see that you supervise PEOPLE. Not so much supervise "work" or processes... If you supervise clerks, that better distinguishes you from being one.

Hi again, my reference letter by my manager was dated December 2nd, 2014 and I was employed on December 16th, 2013. There is no end date mentioned in my letter and am worried that it would cause an issue? I am still with the company working 37.5 hours. Please advise

Hi,
if your reference letter was dated as December 2nd and your 1 year experience is due to December 16th, you are 14 days shorter to become eligible under CEC. If so, I am sorry to say that, but your application will be most probably refused.

Your employer testifies to the fact that you have the skilled work experience that qualifies you for CEC. Your letter is dated before you completed the 1 year, therefore, it does not support the fact that you have performed the skilled work for at least 1 year.

It may seem like a silly technicality, but your best option is to wait until you get your AOR (assuming you get it), and then send another Letter of Employment with a more recent date (keep all the same details, just a new date). You cannot get "credit" for experience that takes place after you apply, but at least you can get it up to your application date.

Thank you Jes for being helpful as always. I am just upset, I should have paid more attention. Let's hope I get AOR. Have you seen any cases where they rejected solely on the fact that an end date was not mentioned? Or the date on reference letter was 2 weeks prior to 1 year experience and the application was returned?

That level of review comes later by a VO, I've never heard of an application returned for that.
