NOC code for application support profiles

Hi All,

Good day to you all.

I am new to this forum, i need some help in identifying correct NOC code for application support profiles.Just here to be very sure or close to what I think.

My job titles were Senior Analyst - Middleware earlier and currently I am working as Technical Specialist.

I am involved in daily support, administration, disaster recovery procedures of enterprise workload automation solutions like BMC Control-M and CA AutoSys. These software are used for business related IT automation.

For example scripts running on Unix, Windows, Informatica , SAP can be automated with these solutions.

Our team also work with vendor to keep software's updated to latest versions and patches.

Can I use NOC code 2171 as it has few lines like below :-

Information systems business analysts and consultants
Confer with clients to identify and document requirements
Conduct business and technical studies
Design, develop, integrate, test and implement information systems business solutions
Provide advice on information systems strategy, policy, management, security and service delivery.


I perform below duties :-

• Preparing Design documents, data flow diagrams for enterprise business solutions.
• Write and update the support documentation for the existing and new upcoming versions and features for the application support purpose.
• Responsible for daily calls with business to understand current issues and their solutions.
• Gather and understand Client’s business requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams for new project implementations in production as per Service Delivery policies.
• Prepare monthly reports.
• Design, install new modules, versions for softwares, test them in TEST environment, before implementing in PRODUCTION environment for business needs.
• Integrate enterprise workload automation tools like BMC Control-M and CA AutoSys with latest monitoring tools for taking proactive actions on any issues.
• Provide advice, technical analysis and solutions to issues for critical business applications and solutions.
• Performing yearly Disaster Recovery ( DR ) activities.
• Resolve escalated tickets.
• Performs RCA of escalated issues as required.
• Take part in yearly audits for enterprise business solutions like BMC Control-M and CA AutoSys.
• Update the configuration management system.
• Administration and Troubleshooting experience in Distributive systems
over Control-M.
• Solving daily issues and improving reporting with use of SQL queries.
• Take part in sessions with product vendor support and third party ( like PWC ) and detect any application security issues
• Helping development teams in designing jobs / logic for ongoing new projects.
• Performed patching of software as required.
• Manage customer issues, resolving them directly or engaging internal teams or external vendor resources.
• Insure that all tasks are completed within a timely manner and all tasks are being logged through our ticketing system.

I would be very thankful if other application support profile could comment and guide me.

I would suggest use the NOC code that matches closest to your job description. And then in the LOE give the 2nd and 3rd NOC codes you reckon match up your duties. Request the officer to decide on the best NOC Code as you are not sure.
Or email the NOC people (some one can provide you their email address) and ask them for exact NOC code.

Hi Varun, what NOC did you finally apply with? I am also on the same boat and confused whether to go with 2171 or 2172. I am an Informatica Production Support and Administrator for past 3 years and worked as an Informatica developer prior to it for about 2 years. All this 5 years of experience is in same organization. Before this organization, I worked 2 years as BI Cognos Developer.

If I decide on 2172, I am not sure on the education requirement part as it asks for only computer science/field as specialization whereas I am a business management (finance) and as per WES 4 year Bachelor degree. So do you think 2171 aligns more with respect to Informatica Support Job duties and the education that I hold given that 2171 has business management included or should I pick 2172? Please shed some light. Thanks.
