Hi,
I work at the clearing and settlement department of a stock exchange of my country. I can’t figure out a NOC code for my duties. As they are more operations and finance extremely specific duties. Can anyone help please ?

I mainly do verification and processing of financial collateral.
Checking accuracy of the documents and ensuring timely processing of the same.

I've looked through the finance-related NOCs and none of them conforms to those types of duties. I would guess that your job would fall under admin assistant or some more general (not strictly finance/stock market related) job. verification, processing, checking . . . all sound like admin functions.

Thanks for your reply. But I’m into a finance role. And I enter financial collaterals in the system. Checking of the collaterals. Verification of them. Monthly reporting of the collaterals. CO-ordination for with other departments. Communication to clients and resolving their queries. Performing system checks. Etc. As per my agent my NOC should be 1212. But I’m not really sure of it.

1212 is a supervisor role, do you have this level of seniority in your job? You have to ensure that.

It all depends on the lead statement of the NOC, does your job duties and responsibilities substantively relate to those which are mentioned for the NOC?

If it does, then you should be fine.

I’m a deputy manager. And the duties don’t match exactly what I do. But overall Also, no other NOC fits my profile.

Check NOC 1434 Banking, insurance and other financial clerks:
https://noc.esdc.gc.ca/Structure/NocProfile/dc2819ad5085416bb2c168b211956361?objectid=FZ9roBpby4paF2kPchThD0NtcmEdpTx8kg7+bk+e5VrZNEXJ4qdj7yolKyjbfx9l

I'm not here to question your seniority for the record, it's not about appellations really, it's more about the job responsibilities and duties. What matches the best with your job.

Once you get PR, no one really cares what NOC you used for your application. But you have to pick an NOC which matches well with your job, this is one of the most important aspects of your application.

Thanks for your reply. It’s just that I’m not sure what level I fall under. Is it necessary to be a supervisor for 1212?

Yes, here is the overview:

1212 Supervisors, finance and insurance office workers
Supervisors of finance and insurance office workers supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers in the following unit groups: Accounting and related clerks (1431), Payroll administrators (1432), Banking, insurance and other financial clerks (1434) and Collectors (1435). They are employed by banks and other financial institutions, insurance companies, and by other establishments throughout the private and public sectors.

What's clear is you have a supervisory role, you have people working under you.

Have you checked 1434? Do you still feel 1212 is closer to your job description, or is 1434 closer? You can check the other NOC codes listed above as well such as 1431 and 1435.

Hi checked the other code. Not much I do from that. However my duties somewhat cover these

But I’m not a supervisor. And I don’t have people working under me.
  • Implement efficient working processes and co-ordinate, assign and review the work of clerks engaged in the following duties: administering accounts payable and receivable; processing, verifying and recording financial documents and forms; administering payrolls; processing, verifying and recording insurance claims and forms; and collecting user fees and payments on overdue accounts
  • Examine and verify accuracy of work and authorize routine payments, credits and other transactions
  • Establish work schedules and procedures and co-ordinate activities with other work units or departments
  • (Taken from the noc website for noc 1212)
