NOC code confusion-Borderline NOC

Hi,

I have a concern regarding my NOC codes. For one of my jobs the NOC is borderline, between legal administrative assistant which is skill level B of the NOC and Office Clerk which is skill level C. I worked at a visa collection agency that was affiliated with a consulate and we dealt with immigration. My job included proofreading applications, making changes and editing and advising clients and applicants on visa requirements. How will this be assessed and how should my employer write my employment letter? My second job which was the majority of my work experience was as a legal assistant doing relatively similar and much more of the work as stated above but that one I am pretty sure falls under legal assistant skill level B.

What should I do?

I want to add that my salary was CAD 13 per hour plus vacation pay...

You don't say what your job title was/is... The reason I ask is that unless your title had the words "manager," "supervisor," "officer," or "agent," it will likely be evaluated as skill level C, something like:

For it to be considered a legal assistant - you'll probably have to have a degree in that field and/or a job title in that field. Yes, the job duties/requirements are what count (more than the title or the degree), but in this case, the duties are similar to those in lower skilled NOCs, and you'll need some thing to prove the job has a law focus (and from what you wrote, it doesn't sound like it does...).

You can always submit a copy of your job description to HRSDC for their determination...

Hi Jes_ON

My job title in my first job was Submission Officer and in my second was Immigration Administrator.

My second job was at a corporate law firm but I do not have a law background. Both jobs required a Bachelor's degree and on the job training.
