Designation: Business Developer
Education: BBA and MBA
Experience: 2 years 9 months and continuing
Company Type: Software Engineering
Job description: client management/consulting, product idea forming, requirement gathering, business analysis, product development consulting and in-house sales and marketing activities.

Confusion among following codes:
2171 Information systems analysts and consultants
1122 Professional occupations in business management consulting

I understand that I should try to match with my JD but my JD is kind of broad and matches both of them. Also, my organization will be pretty flexible in terms of providing clearance letter expressing the JD the way I will request them to. So now my confusion comes to the point when I see that both the Information System Consultant and the Business Management Consultant falls under my JD.

Now if you were in such position where you could fit multiple NOC with your JD, how will you pick? Is there any place where I can figure which NOC code is getting accepted more? Or how can I determine which province looks for which NOC more?

P.S. - My intended places to go are British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta.

Your Roles and Responsibilities should be more detailed.
Lookout on NOC page on CIC website and see which matches closest.

If you still can't find out, then try asking directly from NOC people at NC-NOC-CNP-GD2@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca with following details of each of your work profiles like :

Working Period
Designation
Working hours per week
Required Education for the job
Work Experience required for the job
Type of establishment where this type of work is performed

Confusion among following codes:
2171 Information systems analysts and consultants
1123 Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations
0601 Corporate sales managers
0124 Advertising, marketing and public relations managers
4163 Business development officers and marketing researchers and consultants
6221 Technical sales specialists – wholesale trade

As it is seen, due to the wide range of activities I have to perform, I am torn among several NOC codes. All of them show some of my job responsibilities, also they internally seem to be linked with the term ''classified elsewhere'', I am not really sure what that exactly mean though.

I am at the last stage of my EE profile creation. Could anyone help me with suggestions regarding which code to choose and what are the factors that generally should be considered for choosing a code?

P.S. - My intended places to go are British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta.
While selecting the NOC, the duties and responsibilities mentioned in the NOC should be a close match with the actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you at the respective job. You need not match the duties and responsibilities word by word, but the idea is to have the closest match in terms of the spirit of the duties and responsibilities (at least 60%-70% match).

Also, NOC should be selected on the basis of the match of actual duties and responsibilities carried out by you rather than the designation match in the NOC list. If you are not sure of your NOC, write to noc@workingincanada.gc.ca with your job title, duties and responsibilities and educational qualification, they will help you find the closest fit.

Hi, Thank you for the reply. I have researched more and now I have narrowed my search result into two NOC Codes.

2171 Information systems analysts and consultants
1122 Professional occupations in business management consulting

It appears your experience is a close match to 2171.

Consultant is a broad term in IT. Involves the business, technology, implementation, databases, user interfaces and business logic.

Read carefully the duties and responsibilities of NOC 2171.

Map it with your experience, and your reference letter should specify your JD which must be in sync with NOC.

Okay, I believe you are still in process of submitting your express entry profile? So, if you feel that you are kind of performing both 2171 and 1122, then I would suggest you to choose the one which has better prospects. I mean different provinces like Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and probably Ontario as well launches PNP programs for specific NOCs. From what I know 2171 has good prospects and since I don't know anything about 1122 so please do your own research about it.

And offcourse, you can always send email at NC-NOC-CNP-GD2@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca or noc@workingincanada.gc.ca to get a more reliable answer about which NOC code to choose.

Hi MZASAM, thank you so much! I am also leaning towards the 2171 more as my work is mostly concerned about the technology integration and business process improvement. I am happy to hear that you think it has a good match with me.

HI KnowAndShare, I have just sent a mail to the NOC team and hoping to get a reply from them soon. Thank you a lot for your cooperation. Actually what you mentioned is more important to me right at this moment, I want to know if any specific province is more inclined towards specific NOC code so that I can try to get a PNP there by selecting such NOC code.

Hey HHS, as I said earlier I know only about 2171 and I found it to be among the list of NOCs for which Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia opened their province specific express entry PNP programs.
I would suggest you to go each of the province websites and check even old closed express entry program guides and see what NOCs are in demand.

Hi Knowandshare, yes I have started doing it since yesterday :) In fact I am leaning towards 2171 as I have found that BC, Ontario and NB has good work potential for this NOC. :D
