Hi,

I have some queries relating to NOC 9232 (chemical process operators) for express entry under FSWP.

My profile:

CRS points calculated: 466
FSW points calculated: 77
IELTS ( S:7.5,R:8.5,W:7.5, L:8.5)
Education: 1. Bachelors of pharmacy from Bangladesh (2008-2012) 2. Masters of Phamacy from Bnagladesh 2013-2015, 3. Post graduate diploma in Pharmacology 2017 New Zealand
Work Experience:
Primary NOC Code 9232, Skill level B (chemical process operator) - 2.5 years (2018-present) in New Zeland
NOC 4163 (Business development officer) : 2013-2015 ) 2 years in Bangladesh.

Questions:

Question 1. While filling up my express entry profile this section comes up:

'Date I first became qualified to practice in this occupation

If the "primary occupation" is:

  • a qualified trade (four-digit code begins with 632, 633, 72, 73, 82, 92), this is the date they became qualified to practice on their own in Canada. (For example, when they moved from apprentice to being a licensed tradesperson.)
  • any other job, this is the date they first obtained the minimum education or training stated in the NOC description. (Note: if the NOC only states high school, this is the date they graduated.)
What should I give as my start date for my primary NOC work experience in express entry ? My primary NOC code is a four digit NOC code that starts with 92 (9232). My job experience for this NOC was gained in New Zealand after I completed my post graduate Diploma and in New Zealand I did not need any other certification or apprenticeship to start my job in my primary NOC 9232 (chemical process operator). Should I give the date I joined the company as the date I first became qualified to practice in my profession?

Or should I give the date when I obtained the minimum education or training stated in the NOC description (as mentioned for any other job in the above express entry application section) ?

Question 2: My second question is based upon the following section in the express entry application:

Does the candidate have a certificate of qualification from a Canadian province or territory?

For the purpose of submitting an express entry profile (bearing in mind that I have met the minimum FSWP points and want to considered for the FSWP) is it a mandatory requirement for people like me who have experience in a specific skilled trade to have the canadian certificate of qualification? btw i dont have a certificate of qualification from canada for NOC code 9232. Or is this question just asked to find out whether people with experience in the skilled trades can be eligible for the Federal skilled trades program?

Kindly awaiting your answers.

1. this detail is more for the Skilled Trades program and does not negatively impact your application for regular EE (FSW) rounds. Choose your graduation date OR any date after GRADUATION and before your FIRST EMPLOYMENT. So years you can give date you joined the company.
2. Since you do not have Canadian background you will not have a path to get certificate from a province. Certificate is required for professions that are regulated for FSW you don't need this.

I finished my PG diploma course in November 2017 but the graduation ceremony was in May 2018. However, I started the NOC 9232 job as a chemical operator in March 2018. So based upon your reply, would it be ok if i give the date 2018 March ( start date of employment in noc 9232) as the date in the EE application?

Awaiting your kind reply.
