NOC code 2173 or 2174

HI all,
I am going to apply for Canada PR from Express entry. I have 6years of experience in software programming. I worked in 2 companies in my experience. Most of my work is writing new code, application development(this is also programming but end to end to fulfill a requirement), testing it, deploying and then providing support for the same. I worked mostly in technologies like BigData & Java which primarily involves programming and other mentioned activities as secondary. Like everyone in the level of my experience, I am confused in choosing between the NOC code 2173 or 2174. My last company gave me the relieving letter with the job title: APPLICATION DEVELOPER. But my current company says "DATA ENGINEER".

Could anyone let me know which is the suitable NOC (2173 or 2174) for my application ?

The title is not entirely significant for your NOC.

From the duties mentioned in both 2173 and 2174, which ones seem more closer to your actual job duties? You could match them that way.

Now itself, you can apply for the employment reference to your employer and receive a reference listing the duties. Following which you could enter the appropriate NOC in the form.
