Hello everyone,
I was working as a LAN/WAN network specialist until 2012. On 2012, I branched out to the network security field and I have still been working as "Senior Network Security Specialist".
Here are my main duties, from an ad in Indeed:
Exhibits expert knowledge of endpoint security controls, including the deployment of next generation security controls for endpoints and mobile,
Completion of a Security related certification is considered an asset (CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC),
Demonstrates expert knowledge of endpoint security, mobile security and network security control environments and architecture,
Experience with Firewall Policy Modeling Tools - RedSeal, Tufin, Skybox etc.
Knowledge in engineering layered DoS and DDoS attacks network level protect solutions,
Experience in security components including:
Vulnerability Assessments
Anti-Virus and Spyware
Intrusion Detection/Protection Systems
Firewalls
So my NOC seems to be more like 2171 (Information systems analysts and consultants) rather than 2181 (Computer network technicians) since 2012.
It is an important change because the skill level also changes from B to A.
I tried to get an answer from NC-NOC-CNP-GD@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca, but they always send me an automatic emails saying that I need to be more clear.
What are your thoughts? Thanks.
