Hello, my future employer in Canada sent me a job description with 2 potential NOC (1122 consulting & 4163 business development).

For my employer-specific work permit application, do changes vary depending on the NOC selected for approval? will chances of approval vary if I apply with NOC 1122 or NOC 4163?

Thanks everyone

Doesn’t the employer need a LMIA before you apply? There is no Canadian to do,the job? Is the employer applying for a LMIA in need of a consultant or business developer officer. These have different responsibilities.

My employer doesn't need an LMIA. They are applying for an LMIA exemption thanks to an international treaty between my country and Canada. So we are wondering whether it would make a difference selecting one NOC code over the other... Any thoughts?

Thanks!

You need to look at the treaty because I don’t know which country and see what NOCs are included.

Thanks Naturgrl for highlighting that point. I just checked the treaty (Canada-Peru) at https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/foreign-workers/international-free-trade-agreements.html

Thankfully, both NOCs are covered under the treaty. "professionals are listed using a negative list, meaning that all professionals that meet the general definition of professionals are covered, except for the professionals included in the list in the chart below." And neither consultants nor business development are listed.

So I'm back to square one :) Don't know whether choosing one over the other would make a difference in my approval chances...

Sure, that's what I intend to do. The thing is the job description meets 80% of both NOC requirements... And from my education and work experience I have experience in both, so I really can choose either one.

Which brings me back to my question... will chances of approval vary depending on the selected NOC?
