Main duties
This group performs some or all of the following duties:
- Purchase merchandise for resale by retail or wholesale establishments
- Review requirements of establishment and determine quantity and type of merchandise to purchase
- Study market reports, trade periodicals and sales promotion materials and visit trade shows, showrooms, factories and product design events
- Select the merchandise which best fits the establishment's requirements
- Interview suppliers and negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms and transportation arrangements
- Oversee distribution of merchandise to outlets and maintain adequate stock levels
- Establish and maintain contact with suppliers
- May supervise the work of other retail buyers.

- Complete purchase orders and maintain smooth operations for successful, executions and timely shipments, while ensuring the product quality.
- Executing store activities and operations with respect to organizational SOP and standards and achieving sales target within set timeframes.
- Identifying customer inquiries and complaints and making appropriate recommendations for corrective solutions to meet their needs and expectations.
- Forge and maintain cordial relationships with suppliers to uphold our reputation and to promote imported products at fair prices.
- Planning and executing alternatives to develop cost reduction procedures for minimizing project costs and expenses and preparing sales and inventory reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Tracking sales to monitor the performance of each core product and investigating market trends and offering products that would appeal to customers.
- Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments, this can include drawing up budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing discrepancies between the budget and actual expenses, analyzing profitability ratios and implementing corrective measures.
- Source new products and review existing goods to check the quality and popularity of those already on shelves.
- Maintains store shelves by observing displays of company products, prompting store management to reorder when levels appear low, removing damaged or expired products, tidying store shelves and providing optimum display of products.
