Hi everyone! I'm getting really nervous about submitting the reference letters and (possibly) changing NOC. My story is as follows:
  • Chronologically I grew from a Test Engineer in 2010 to Test Manager in 2014 as outlined in topic title
  • Created EE profile back in April '16, everything under NOC 2283 (Test Technician)
  • Received ITA on Jan 04
  • Now that I started preparing my reference letter it became clear that at least my Management responsibilities don't really match the 2283 NOC
  • Going to submit 3 separate letters for each position, see below

So my questions are:
What's the best NOC match for Test Manager? 0213?
Any feedback on how my duties/responsibilities correspond to 0213 or 2283? (see below)

Testing Engineer
Duties and responsibilities:

  • Developed test plans for <Company Name> products
  • Performed functional, acceptance, stress and performance testing and documented the results in HP Quality Center
  • Logged product issues in the defect tracking system (TeamTrac, Microsoft TFS)
  • Analyzed, submitted and tracked the defects found during the beta-testing and reported by the Support Team

Test Team Lead
Duties and responsibilities:

  • Performed Test Design and executed manual tests for <Company Name> products: <Product Names>
  • Developed programs and scripts for automated testing using C# language and Product API and executed them in Microsoft TFS environment
  • Performed Requirement Analysis and participated in peer reviews and internal reviews of test scenarios, test cases and test plans.
  • Ensured correct prioritization and timely resolution of the product defects
  • Developed and documented testing strategies for multiple <Company Name> products

Test Manager
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Was responsible for planning, execution, monitoring and controlling of software testing activities for multiple Updatable Modules: <module names>
  • Supervised a team of Testing Engineers and Software Development Engineers in Test, ensured their professional development
  • Conducted interviews and hiring of Testing Engineers and Software Development Engineers in Test
  • Developed and documented Updatable Modules Release procedure - a policy for testing and releasing Updatable Modules to clients
  • Managed a project of developing a testing framework to automatically ensure <Company Name> product updates do not affect default user scenarios on popular software

Have a similar profile as yours, more than 10 years of experience in Software QA and 4 years as a QA manager.
Submitted 3 reference letters for the 3 companies i worked for and it looked very much similar to what you have written for the three roles Viz. Test Engineer, Test lead and Test Manager. The only difference was all the three letters also covered most of the roles and responsibility which are there for NOC 2283 with emphasis on the role i was playing.
These were approved to be correct by both SINP and CIC. So ,would say continue with NOC 2283.

As you are submitting 3 separate letters just ensure that each of these letters have at least 70% roles and responsibilities for NOC 2283 in addition to what is already there. The wordings can be same if it is from the same company, however if different then rephrase it. There were a few instances in SINP where in one was asked for the authenticity of the letter as the wordings were same in letters from different companies.

Thanks a lot! Yes, these 3 positions are within the same company, so I would guess that the wording will not be an issue.
So what you're saying is that I should add more of paraphrased description of the following (from the official web-site)
"
Develop and document software testing plans
Install software and hardware and configure operating system software in preparation for testing
Execute, analyze and document results of software application tests and information and telecommunication systems tests
Develop and implement software and information system testing policies, procedures and scripts
Identify, report, track and propose solutions to product defects.
"

Do you think that my current responsibilities for Test Engineer need to be updated as well? Or only Team Lead and Test Manager positions?

Do not have it as it is from the website, rephrase.

Test Engineer responsibilities what you have pretty much sums up what one actually does, however, see if can be elaborated a wee bit more.

Yes, I suggest to paraphrase.
