Hello all experts...

Initially I thought that I would fit in NOC 2171 because my Work Permit has Comp Analysts & Consultants stamped under Occupation and I could not find any category like Comp Analysts & Consultants in the NOC list.
After going through job descriptions, I feel that NOc 2174 is more related to the work I have been doing.
One thing to note here is that my employer is NOT going to give me any letter related to PR application.
Should I apply under NOC 2174?
All the experts out here, please help and advise.

Thanks in Advance.

If 2174 is matching what you actually do, then it should be ok. However, you will need to get a reference letter from your employer as it is mandatory for CIC

The letter is mandatory. You would be better trying to sort that out first !

Well, thanks for the replies.
I have no way of getting the letter, so I guess I will have to apply without the letter.

Thanks.

Sorry but you are simply wasting your time and effort. If you are unable to submit reference letter or supporting documentation, your application will be rejected. It is not optional but mandatory.

Here there are two possiblities to reject your application.

1. You are in closed work permit and the job duties/responsibilities performed should be for the assigned NOC. So it is possible that your application will be rejected citing unauthorized work.
2. Without an employment letter outlining duties/responsibilities, it is almost certain that your application will be rejected.

The best way to find out your NOC code is call CIC call center at 1-888-242-2100 and options are 1-1-1-2-3-1-0 for foreign workers. This will connect to an agent directly, mention your Client id. They will have it in records when the initial Work permit is applied. But as others mentioned, reference letter is kind of mandatory.

If I have closed work permit for NOC code 2174 and I am working in Canada for last 12 months on same work permit. This clearly means that person is performing same duties which was applicable for NOC code 2174 because he got the work permit for same.
Please let me know if I still need the reference letter with jobs and responsibilities.
I can submit the same reference letter which I have got from my employer before applying for work permit and it has all the roles and responsibilties for NOC code 2174.
I can submit my salary slips, T4 and income tax assessment letter. Also a bonafide letter from my employer will be provided, this contains other details but not the roles and responsibilties.
Please let me know if this will be sufficient,

Did your employer state that they will not assist with PR in particular or did they say they will not provide you with a proof of employment of any kind? The letter doesn't necessarily have to address CIC and make sure your employer understands that they are just issuing a generic letter of reference, not assisting in immigration process actively.

Alternatively, can you at least get a letter from your supervisor/manager? That might work.

Do you have your original contract? T4 forms?

If you can't provide at least a couple of these then it's unlikely CIC case officer will be satisfied.

Even though your NOC code is 2174, there is no proof you can provide CIC with that you were performing those duties. That is where employment letter with duties/responsibilities from your employer comes into the picture. What if you were performing duties corresponding to 2173?
Your employment letter must be recent and CIC might ask you for a recent employment letter or reject your application. However there is no definition for recent in their guidelines. Most of the rejections we see here are either due to mismatch in NOC or employment letter without duties. But we don't know how many if at all any are approved having submitted without duties in the letter.
Bottom line is that if there is no way of getting the letter with duties, you might as well try your luck. But don't be surprised if it is rejected.
