NOC 2171

Hi,

While revieiwng the Forum it shows that NOC 2171 is not there in teh list.
But I have seen it is still there. Please tell I am really confused as one of my NOC is 2171.

I am still in the process and would be able to submit my application in a week or so. And if one of my NOC would be 2171 will it be acceptable.

On the Site we have which shows:

They are employed in information technology consulting firms and in information technology units throughout the private and public sectors, or they may be self-employed.

Meena,

You can use 2171 to claim points. BUT if you are applying for FSW category 1, you cannot apply with 2171 alone. You MUST at least one year of experience in the last 10 years for a job in the list of 38. If not, then you do not qualify for FSW category 1.

In that case, look at category 2 or 3 or CSQ or PNP.

This is the list where you need to have min 1 year work exp to qualify....!If you have any of these, you can also show other NOC which are not there in this list for additional work exp

Hi,

For Computer Professionals Category is: 0213: Computer and Information Systems Managers

My current profile is Sr. Software Tester so accordingly my NOC is: 2283

My previous profile was Analyst so NOC is: 2171

other NOC is : 2282

So I think I shoudl be applicable.

Please reply.

0213 is not a category. It is a NOC just like 2283 and 2171 but with different responsibilities. 2283 and 2171 doesn't come under 0213. Look at the duties of of 0213, if you do not perform those responsibilities, then you are not 0213.

If you do not have one of the jobs in the list of 38, you are wasting your time for FSW1.

In my Appoitmnet letter it shows as Sr. Software Tester but I am handling lots of duties which 0213 states.

Please tell if I mention the duties which I follow will this work.

this is just my opinion.
If you are not a manager with managerial responsibilities, then chances are low.
Just to be sure, maybe you can ask people on this forum with the description of your job to see if they think you could be 0213.

what guide do you want? By telling the seniors that you are a Sr. Software Developer, no one can say whether you qualify for FSW1 or not. Listen to what Rupeshri said. Write down your duties on this forum and maybe someone will be kind enough to evaluate that for you. No one can guide you with the information you have given thus far. If you don't want to post your duties here, maybe you can PM some seniors and ask them.

*Doing complete Manual Testing for Inhouse Web Applications for different Clients.
*Preparing the Bug Report and involve in the Project till it becomes Bug Free and ready to be lived.
* Interacting with clients to discuss system requirements, specifications, timelines

There are cases (rejected) in which job title doesn’t reflect “manager” but job description is same as manager.

Job title and job description both must match/reflect with 0213 which says “computer and information system manager”. MANAGER is key word.

The implementation duties of subordinate may be 80% same as duties of manager. But the difference will be in planning, decision making, leading etc.

That’s what they want LEADER / MANAGER

Some time reference letter only mentioned job title, joining date, performance etc.

If reference letter from your employer describes the detailed duties you performed, than my personal opinion is “it should work”

But the best thing is don’t hesitate, don’t waste time just apply & prey

as far as i understand, the key main roles for 0213 are like managing staff, authority to recruit new staff, developing and implementing procedures and policies, planning organizing evaluating team activities and IT systems etc etc...

if in your current role as a Sr. Software Test Engineer, you are performing above roles also, then try your luck and send your application. nobody will be able to give you a definite answer if this will be accepted or not but only CIU, Sydney.

on the other hand, if you claim NOC 2171, then that will be a straight rejection because 2171 does not fall under 38 eligible occupations. as you also understand, for computer professionals, only one NOC code falls under the list of 38 eligible occupations and that is NOC 0213. NOC 2171 can only help you claim more points under the experience factor, that also if one of your other NOC codes on your application is 0213 and CIU is happy enough to accept your application.
