For NOC 2132, Do we require a license to work in CANADA (Irrespective of Provinces)?
Yes
You might need to get a professional license from a regulatory authority before you can start working. Licensing can be compulsory or voluntary, depending on the occupation.
  • If the license is compulsory, you must be certified before you can practice the occupation and use the professional designation.
  • If the license is voluntary, you don’t need to be certified to practice this occupation.
Engineers are regulated everywhere in Canada. In order to use one of the reserved titles, you are required to be registered with a provincial or territorial regulatory authority to be authorized to practice as an engineer anywhere in Canada.
If you work under the direct supervision of licensed professional engineers, note that the use of one of the reserved titles is not required in order to practice anywhere in Canada, and therefore, certification is voluntary.

Check with the provincial engineering association where you are moving to for licensing requirements and steps. You may be able to get an EIT designation before you land.

No you don't need a license for 2132. You need a license for electrician or millwright which is trade related occupations, NOC start with the 71,72 or 73 groups

You also need license for professional engineer positions, which you can not just get it. You need More than 4 years experience which includes 1 year under supervision of designated PEng. License holder from specific province. The regulation body changes province to province.

@JayPatel27 , thanks for your response.
In some cases if you have skills and don't have license the employer give you the same engineers responsibilities with the same compansation with "specialist" designation to avoid need of license and you can work in engineering department leading by license engineer. I know it's complicated but once you get in Canada everything will fall in place. If I were you I wouldn't worry about license just yet.

@JayPatel27 are you in mechanical industry? can you advise what a new prospective immigrant can do while waiting for their PR outside canada. I have two years of design experience from US and 1 year of automotive production/design experience from Australia. Anything I can do to boost my market value in the Canadian job market while waiting?

Guys I have a doubt, I have applied for PR under the noc code 21321. Do I need to have P.Eng licence to get PR through this noc code. I applied under CEC category. I have two years of experience as quality engineer.
