NOC 0601 or 6221

I have applied for Express Entry and have received an ITA in March 24 of 2017.

Although I am quite confident that I have selected one NOC that is a close match, I might have found one that is closest. Allow me to explain:

My position was called Sales Manager / Business Manager. I worked for a chemical industry, was responsible for the medical gases sales to hospitals, and my main duties were:

Promote sales to existing clients
Identify and solicit potential clients
Assess clients' needs and resources and recommend the appropriate goods or services
Provide input into product design where goods or services must be tailored to suit clients' needs
Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to illustrate benefits from use of good or service
Estimate costs of installing and maintaining equipment or service
Prepare and administer sales contracts
Consult with clients after sale to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support
Troubleshoot technical problems related to equipment
May train customers' staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment

First, I chose 0601 - Corporate Sales Manager, which is NOC type "0". There is a title that is an exact match for my job title and the duties fit about 60%.

Then I found 6221 - Technical sales specialists - wholesale trade, which is type "B". Although example titles won't fit, the duties are about 95% close, although I am not sure I worked in the wholesale trade.

Based on this information:
1) Which one should I choose? Or is there any better option?
2) Also, can I change my NOC in my application, even if I have alredy received and ITA, considering it will not change my CRS points?

I would say type 0 positions are management positions. So they may have some duties similar to type B positions, the scope is broader and normally they will lead a team of people.

So, while a sales person will be responsible for a group of clients, or a city, or a region, the sales manager will be responsible for a larger area and for a group of sales people.

The question is: does the NOC 0601 looks more like your duties or your superior duties?

It is more important to mach duties than to match job titles.

I'm probably going for duties over job title. I'm just worried about changing the NOC this far in the process. Still better than having PR denied.

Honestly i think the above advice is right for the 0601, however there is an important part in the 6221, it says wholesale trade.... maybe you can think about that and base your NOC decision on this... these NOC codes are the biggest problem of this whole EE thing IMO..... I have 30 days to submit and I am still not very sure of my own NOC....

Maybe I should move to 6221 and write a LoE saying I did apply as a 0601 in the first place, but I thought duties were closer to 6221, although not wholesale (even though I am not sure I work in the wholesale, because that concept is not common where I live).

About wholesales: for what I've read so far, it stands for the companies that supply for retail stores. If that's so, then it definatly does not fit.

As I stated on my first post, I was something like a "sales representative" of a chemical industry that supplied Oxygen to hospitals. Is that considered wholesale?

I know its shameful that I used wikipedia to explain but this is exactly what it is....

So now what you think ?

I think you should go for the 6221 if it still fits you.... but just my opinion... I dont want to misguide you....

They are employed by establishments that produce or provide technical goods and services, such as pharmaceutical companies, industrial equipment manufacturing companies, grain elevators, computer services firms, engineering firms and hydroelectric companies, or they may be self-employed technical sales specialists/agents who contract their services to other companies. Technical sales specialists who are supervisors are included in this unit group.

Wholesale is actually B2B ( not to retail consumers directly)

I understand this is an old topic ut it helped me select my NOC as well. My title is Key Account Manager but duties are very similar to code 6221. I went for that one.

NB: I'm partly posting this reply to increase my numbers so I can appreciate the experts who helped! I believe it's 20 posts before we can start giving +1s
