I'm Canadian and need to go to Canada fairly soon, because my father is in poor health. My common-law husband is unemployed, though he does do computer repair and stuff that totally doesn't count when it comes to listing income for a visitor's visa to Canada. We have two sons that are not registered yet as Canadian citizens (long story!) who will need to go up on visas, as well.
I'm getting really confused by the immigration pages here. My dad is going to cover our expenses once we are in Canada, we are paying for the tickets. I work as a freelancer online, so I have no official business papers, either and really don't make that much. We have enough to pay for the tickets, with a bit leftover, but I'm really worried that we'll pay to get three visas and then not get any. Does anyone have experience in traveling with very little money and no provable job, but with a sponsor? Also, my husband is in the university, so he does have that going for him. We have our own house, but it's on his parents' land, so no proof of that either. He's saying we should just not bother and I should go alone, which I really don't want to do.
Any suggestions would be very helpful! Oh, and I'm in Guatemala for reference.
