Understand, but still doesnt makes sense if processing is being done based on this factor. Why would a nurse need Canadian citizenship before a database administrator?
I don’t get it either. One thing I’m sure of is that everything IRCC does warrants a certain detachment from logic.

Just got an email for virtual oath ceremony on the 1st of June. My ceremony was earlier scheduled for the 17th of March. Edmonton office.

Congratulations! It is great news for those who are awaiting the citizenship oath ceremony. Please update us on how things went. Also, I look forward to receiving similar virtual oath ceremony updates from others.

Any chance this individual was being dishonest about the vitual oath???????
I don't think so. Below is another person with a similar experience:
Guys, I have some exciting news to share. I just checked eCas and apparently I was sent a notice to appear for a ceremony on June 5. I am in Calgary and my original date was March 16th originally. Now my question to you guys is, does anybody know whether it is virtual or real? I did not get any email yet. I saw somebody named izz83 got a virtual ceremony invite (June 2) in Edmonton. If you can please shed some light or have any other information, that will be highly appreciated. [Cross Posted in different threads].
And also someone on twitter who got a phone call from IRCC concerning virtual oath:

It is a pleasant news if that is true, Hope it is the case and we get confirmation from the folks directly!

But I still am unable to believe. My understanding is IRCC cannot take any mass public policy action without a Gazette Notification, Ministerial Policy Announcement or MI Notification referring the Citizenship Act. The bare minimum should be updating the Citizenship URL for a policy change (which still refers only to the same old process).....so maybe even a prank act/ call .......or targeted individual based and specific policy action like the earlier reported exception for Prof. Adolf Ng.

I can't get it that why essential worker can be priority for oath of ceremony. I understand if they can be prioritized for lining up to the grocery stores, but I can't agree they can be prioritized for anything.

I think there's a good chance that these calls could've been scams. In my own experience with IRCC, they usually don't make phone calls to applicants and rather tend to reach out via email, accompanied by an update on the online status webpage.

Those individuals who posted here about receiving calls about a potential virtual oath ceremony, please DO let us know about the nature of those calls ASAP. It's important to let others know as such scam calls would give away quite important personal information about the applicants and we should all feel responsible to avoid having others fall into such traps.

So everyone who has received the virtual oath invitation is an essential worker?

One person I know of that received the call said they are not at all an essential worker. So that's definitely not the case. They also said that they did not request any info just that they had room for a zoom oath on certain days this week and wanted to know if they wanted the space.

Hello everyone.
I just completed my virtual oath ceremony. I am not an essential worker and I did not apply for emergency or fast service.
Process:
Confirm your address.
Hold a scissor to cut your pr card
Verify 2 pieces of Id's.
Take your Oath.
Sign the Oath Affrimation form, scan it and send it back to them.

Finally the journey ends. I wish everyone else all the best :)

Thank you.

haha , once in a lifetime experience, maybe only for 2020!

wait, how do you get you citizenship certificate then?

It's not just calls, the person I referred to above (@Sam8119 who, by the way, has been an active member of this forum since 2016) said it was an update in ecas. I don't think we're dealing with scams or dishonest people here. But I agree that IRCC should release something so that we can have an official source to refer to.
